Judgemental you can say it's illegal but on case you haven't been watching the last 2 years the cabinet are constantly being pulled up for illegal things.
Fast track contracts, no checks against massive covidgrant and loan frauds. Pushing their and their friends/families interests for PPE contracts, multiple parties and gatherings during their own lockdown, breaking
Yet nothing happens, they just continue, no force to change no penalties so even if this is illegal, as long as it looks good in the telegraph and mail they won't be changing. Also easy for them rather than actually go after the main Putin puppets that have been funding the Tories for last decade

I expect they do though for the likes of say India or China or other big market my assumption would be ship via the Suez so as long as the railway to the port and the port stays relatively undamaged (and the mines of course) we should be ok.
I do note though Russia seems to be moving towards Odesa which could cause issues with this infrastructure especially the way they seem to be blowing stuff up just for kicks at moment.

yeah I was looking to increase shares in Evraz as these prices but was about an hour late to do so.
As mentioned, the share price of a company has nothing to do with the company itself in the short term, but long term should match the fundamentals.
At least I managed to add a bit more here, and in Ferrexpo which I think is a more dangerous/risky investment given the likelihood of damage to infrstrucure like ports and railways but the 3 stocks IMO are well worth any risk at the current prices.

These are the guys who told us brexit would be great and got the country to support a migration policy that means we won't even let Ukrainians in.
Too easy to spread lies to support what ever way you want the people to go and the people are too naive to recognize it.
That's why they keep voting for a party who, no matter what your 'feelings' are, factually works to make the general populace poorer for the good of a small elite.

break up value is 1.6bill so worth the risk around this level IMO.
However, I agree you should not be putting in too much as the risk here is much higher than in other similar stocks

yeah I thought that was rather an 'in the moment' comment.
everyone has their own level or ESG, I sold out our BP and Shell end of last year as decided I didn't want to hold oil stocks due to global warming, but I still own tobacco stocks and if the price is right I would not have a problem in Rolls Royce, BAE or even Smith and Wesson.
If you are buying mining stocks you have to accept a level of 'bad' things can happen but I would be more concerned around actual damage to local populations and poisoning water sources rather than what some of the raw material you make might end up.

Putin is responsible for this entire situation. Russians didn't want it, he even had to and contnue to lie to them about specific operaion, and tell the soldiers it's just an exercise to get them to follow him.

Ukraine's only mistake was to trust Russia (and to lesser extent UK and US) when they guaranteed her sovereignty for her to give up nuclear weapons.

The mention of Putin not being Hitler is actually a lot closer and there are concerning similarities in how countries watched from the side whilst he invaded Czechoslovakia on the same pretext as Putin that German speakers were being victimized.
Thankfully Ukraine have given him a bloody nose and with social media it's much harder than the past to control the total story of what's happening.

The share goes ex dividend tomorrow meaning the money being held for the dividend no longer counts as being on Evraz's books ( hence normally the share price dropping around the same amount (though other factors are involved suck as market sentiment etc and we are not in normal times)).
However the divided won't be actually paid until the end of the month so that is the day any autoinvested div can be used to buy more shares, not tomorrow.

The only risk I see to the div is if a lot was in rubles but I expect it was like mainly in dollars as that's how it's paid.
2020 something unexpected came out that changed the situation but this div was called after the war started and sanctions had begun so they must feel comfortable that they can release this with little risk

True but the fundamentals haven't changed at Poly, in fact gold is going up in value whereas the fundamentals could change quickly here if there is substantial damage to infrastructure or Pivdennyi (Yuzhny) falls which is where our exports leave from.
Therefore indeed I am much more cautious on Ukraine based companies like this compared to Russian based ones (all else being equal).
I won't be selling my current shares as they are about 2% of my portfolio but won't be adding at this price

terrible to see how many people don't understand simple things like when you need to hold shares to get a dividend.

It's all easy to research, but people put more research into what toaster to buy then what stock to put thousands of pounds into.
so many people will lose lots of money if they don't understand the basic rules of trading.

For the next dividend you have to have bought shares before the end of trading on 9th March and/or not sell shares until the start of trading on the 10th March.
Everything else is just conversation.

Regard this share though, I also own polymetal and evraz but this is the one I'm more 'cautious' over because this is the one who's infrastructure, ports, road and rail is most at risk of disruption. Plus all our iron eggs are in the Ukraine basket, hopefully going forward they'll look to get a mine or two elsewhere to give more geographic diversification. With the money we make they can afford it even if it means dropping the dividend a bit for a while

If this happens then good news for anyone who sold out prior to the demerger and bought back since long term anyway
