Funny I bought poly back last year around 1400 sold out for about 1200 in December because of needing deposit for a house.
I remember being annoyed at the time for having to sell at a loss but fate it seems was kind this one time.
Now manages to get a much bigger position (though small compared to alleged holdings of some on here) at an average of 217 and not sure I can see myself ever selling given the future dividend expectations.
Buffet dies say thats the best hold time.

I think he meant attack the gold held by them, not any gold miners that operate in the country.

Also you have to take into account Poly fell a lot more, still 77% down from end of Feb compared to Ferrex about 40% down so it makes sense it would bounce higher and faster.
Also, also! As they don't have all their operations in Ukraine people (well me anyway) probably see them as safer as no danger to their actual assets or the infrastructure around it to stop production and it getting to clients.

The current market cap is almost 50% of their tangible asset balance so unless people are still worried about assets being seized this seems an extremely safe bet in the short to mid term.

it happens all the time, look at alibaba look at meta, massive drops for no reason but sudden panic and fear in spite of not because of the underlying company.

Surprised by this title and csnt find where I read it but Russians are buying so much gold at moment that the Russian bank had cut back on their purchases so there's enough.
Also China have been massively increasing their gold holding the last few months so plenty of demand that any sanctions (and I really cant see gold sanctions how can you know where it's mined??) Will have no effect on

I don't think they are listening. Instead the chancellor is telling everyone to sell russian shares and FCA are looking at setting up 'side pockets' so funds can mark russian shares at zero (nice for when they actually sell them!).

Just have to wait it out, sign if it makes you feel you are doing something but don't have expectations.

I'm a shareholder here but just pointing out how 'free narket' works in the UK. Just like when certain companies get bail outs or lucrative contracts whilst others are left to fail.

It's all risk Vs reward.
If you put a thousand in here you could lose a thousand (though imo still incredibly unlikely but risk is there) or you coul make about three thousand if it goes back to a couple months ago (even after the demerger of coal).
Ferrexpo is similar asymmetric risk and Poly I think gives a chance of turning a thousand into 5 on current pricing.
To me that's the kind of bet I want where the reasonable upside is bigger then the possible downside. Get enough of those situations and even if more than half go to zero you're still ahead but of course you have to be sure you can handle the possibility of the downside without being wiped out. I'm not just putting all my money into one of those stocks and not all of my portfolio (about 12%) into all of them for that reason but if people don't know their risk tolerance or understand risk they shouldn't be in single stocks at all imo

I guess in theory they could but I don't think they will as there's no conversation about Russia trying to stay in and run Ukraine, the company is Swiss and likely Putin and his mates have lots of wealth in that country so not a good idea to upset them. My only concern is how damaged the infrastructure roads, rail ports etc will be at the end of the war but even that will be short term (though my short term is up to a year in this case) and to the mines themselves but again for me that's a very low risk.
However the fact those risks are there is why this is currently 2.5-3x down from a few months ago so everyone has to determine their own risk tolerance

How are your tattoo chef and GameStop holdings going?

For sure there are risks in this stick, that's why it's about 90% down in a month but if people don't realise that they should not be investing here. Best for them would be stick to market trackers.
That said I don't see this having any of those issues mentioned (though no guarantees only probabilities) and am sure they weren't holding all their spare cash in rubles esp as gold is priced in dollars, as is the dividend.
