A Short Sunday Sermon on the Resurrection of Revd OldSharedog
Beloved forumites, lurkers, and those who only log in when the search function fails them—good Sunday to you all.
We gather today to reflect on a miracle most wondrous, most unexpected, and most likely to cause a double-take at the username: the resurrection of the Revd OldSharedog.
For lo, it was said among the people, “He has gone offline.” Some whispered, “Perhaps only for a while.” Others declared with confidence, “He’ll be back once he’s found the right bookmark.” And yet the days passed, the threads grew long, and hope was archived on page three.
But then—on the third scroll of the forum—he posted.
Not with thunder. Not with a wall of text. But with wisdom, wit, and just enough gentle mischief to remind us all why we bookmarked him in the first place.
Let this be a lesson to us. Never assume a long silence is the end. Sometimes it is merely a reboot. Sometimes it is life happening. And sometimes, dear friends, it is the Revd preparing a return post of such quality that the forum briefly remembers why it exists.
The resurrection of OldSharedog teaches us three things:
First, faith: always believe that the best contributors are only mostly retired.
Second, patience: threads may wander, but good voices return in their own time.
Third, grace: when they do return, we say not “Where have you been?” but “Good to see you.”
So go forth this week refreshed. Be kind in debate, merciful with typos, and slow to declare anyone permanently gone. For in the great forum of life, resurrection is always one login away.
Amen—and don’t forget to refresh your browser.
DOG BLESS YOU ALL - and pass the turkey hash.
