SCGL - THE MOONSHOT - SUNDAY SERMON12 Apr 2026 08:43
SCGL Mission Log — Sunday Sermon Edition
“To the Moon, Back Again, and Only Mildly Singed”
By Revd Oldsharedog, Chaplain of Orbital Nonsense
Mission Summary
SCGL launched its first lunar expedition with a crew selected for bravery, loyalty, and a complete disregard for common sense.
The goal: reach the moon.
The method: hope.
The backup plan: none.
Crew Roster
Capt Crober — Mission Commander
Pressed every button. Twice. Claimed it was “for science.”
Callit — Navigator
Used a star map, a compass, and vibes. Got lost twice before leaving Earth’s atmosphere.
Colenal — Security Chief
Spent the mission shouting “STOP THAT!” at everyone, including himself.
MSUK — Mission Specialist
Read the manual. Regretted reading the manual. Wished others had read the manual.
Launch Report
Countdown began smoothly until:
• Callit spotted “mysterious smoke”
• Crober unplugged something “unnecessary”
• Colenal attempted to confiscate the rocket
• MSUK accepted his fate
Liftoff achieved.
Rocket powered by fuel, adrenaline, and SCGL optimism.
Lunar Operations :
Landing described by NASA as “creative.”
Flag planted: a tea towel on a broom handle.
Crober attempted a crater jump.
Callit blamed gravity.
Colenal blamed Crober.
MSUK blamed page 47.
Re‑Entry & Splashdown
Atmospheric re‑entry triggered:
• Callit: “We’re too fast!”
• Crober: “Speed builds character.”
• Colenal: “THIS IS NOT SAFE.”
• MSUK: “I told you so.”
Splashdown successful.
Crew recovered, mildly soggy, fully confused.
Mission Lessons
1. God uses imperfect crews.
If He can use SCGL to reach the moon, He can use anyone.
2. Faith means stepping into the unknown.
Or being launched into it at 25,000 mph.
3. You don’t need to be perfect — just willing.
The disciples weren’t astronauts either.
4. Even when you drift off course, God brings you home.
Benediction
May you have Crober’s courage,
Callit’s determination,
Colenal’s caution,
and MSUK’s competence.
May your rockets launch,
your landings be soft,
and your splashdowns gentle.
And remember:
If SCGL can make it to the moon,
you can survive Monday.
DOG BLESS YOU ALL - THE COUNTDOWN IS ON.
And remember:
If SCGL can make it to the moon,
you can survive Monday.
Amen.
If you want an even shorter one — like a 1‑paragraph “micro‑sermon” — I can craft that too.
