DLG was formed in 1985 and it will probably still be around in 2059…and I’m pretty sure the share price will be north of where we are now. Keep taking the dividends and top up on any overdone drops!

A couple of articles out recently stating O&G and copper are the best hedges against inflation.

Yes, good to see 150p hold although yesterday I had a top up at 149 which didn’t execute…
Maybe it was just a case of old news being recycled as regards the historic trading blunders.
Just need to directors and traders to do their job at a reasonable level of competence and we’ll be good.

When do we go ex dividend?

The only conclusion I’ve come up with as to why the update has boosted the share price is the forward projections of copper mining. Page 38.

The results are being well received by the market.
SP currently up >5%

I’m assuming the financing of the debt structure is much lower now than what will be available looking ahead.
Would have liked a bump up on the dividend.

At the time of writing the results are going down very well…LFL revenue growth of 8.6% (Price/mix 7.4% and volume 1.2%) with FY expectations raised
H1 adjusted operating margin of 25.6%

Share buy backs don’t physically put any monies in my pocket
Yes in theory they should stabilise a share price and therefore increase the yield but most investors who have holdings in companies like Shell do so with a view to building a passive income and/or supplementing the works pension.
If Shell don’t want to commit to an increase in their dividend payments beyond the stated 4% increase per annum they should look at offering a couple of special dividends every year when the times are good.
And when times are bad most sensible investors would accept there being no special dividend.

Every company is having to deal with inflationary forces but those selling premium products have at least an extra layer of protection with their wider margins.
A solid update.

Another premium products company (Unilever) issued their H1 results today which the market appears to approve of. Hopefully RKT’s update tomorrow goes down well.

RKT is circa 5% of my P/F.
I view it as one of my anchors whose products will always be wanted.
Always happy to top up on silly red days but just wish the divi was a little higher!
