VAL got ramped all the way to 22.9p and then they issued an RNS stating:

'As announced on 1 April 2020 the Company is required to raise further funds in the near future in order to meet its working capital requirements. In the event that the Company undertakes a placing it is likely to be at a significant discount to the Company's current share price.'

Makes you wonder if they have finished forward selling the placing already. Greedy twits have got burnt when they were left the smoldering parcel.

I wonder if the departed got severance pay? If so the money will run out even faster.

Troajan - I still think that company is valueless, despite the rise from 4p to 12p. It is worth 25p as a tax-shell, but the punters are more likely to get confetti and the occasional ramp before a placing than ever to see a dividend.

Some like the game of pass the parcel but that is not investing, it is gambling...

Unfortunately War is a favoured way of getting out of a depression... The UK only had the Great Slump and thanks to Conservative austerity policies there has been no economic boom over the last decade so we will just get a Greater Slump.

But the drums of war are banging in the distance... When they say buy defensive stocks they mean defense stocks, specifically Drones and Copper.

I know we are entering a depression but does the world really need a War (let alone a World War which would bring a double W recovery)? The Real Orange One seems to be itching for a War to distract from his failures as the next election approaches...

Inflation / Deflation

I agree about the deflation worry - it is why I am over 95% in cash. Even 70% of my SIPP is in cash at the moment.

I agree - the rises seem unfounded. There are 2 explanations; I find the first more likely:

1. Irrational Exuberance - these times of economic shock are new to all if you accept a depression is likely. The scrapping of US trading fees has made people stuck at home more likely to speculate on shares (Virgin Galactic is a good US example). I think we have seen similar unwarranted rises in any UK Bio share that can be linked to Covid-2019 as well.

2. The markets are pricing in inflation. This is possible as Western Economies are borrowing record amounts, especially the US. I am personally expecting a revaluing of the green-back downwards instead of interest rate increases because of inflation.

Time will tell.

If I remember correctly 25p is the value of the tax losses if VAL was to be valued on them as opposed to the science they have been developing for over a decade. The rally has legs to go just on that valuation.

Steadydanny - AIM does not have 'circuit-breakers' so the share can rise by as high as demand takes it. As there are so many shareholders with negligible numbers of shares (consolidation does that if you do not average down) there will be less selling pressure than many shares where the same high free float of shares.
