Kenny - yes, plenty of pressure on food supplies will arise from the poor Northern Hemisphere harvests which, coupled with the damage caused by the Locust plague, will cause major price increases early next year. The only positive I have seen is the easing of the US Ethanol rules which means more of the Corn Harvest will be available as food / feed stock.
The levels of the Rhine cause problems in the global chemical supply system and will have an effect on German vehicle exports. Few know of the Ludwigshafen chemical plant let alone it's importance in the world-wide chemical trade.
