For those that remember how close Portland Gas Storage Limited was to being sold to Centrica in 2007 (SP peaked around 440p) only for it to be kiboshed by the financial crisis taking hold.
I’m getting a bit of deja vu here given what’s happened to the FTSE today re US Data yesterday. Praying the China-US trade war doesn’t cause a repeat a decade later from the last missed development.

Sorry for raising this but we all know it’s financial closure that is mission critical for the project.

It’s all IMHO and I’m not saying it will occur but it is a concern of mine though I’m hanging in for the ride up which as someone pointed out earlier will not be in a straight line.

I would say between 0.3 and 3p
The lower end we could perhaps see through a prolonged delay or withdrawal of Vitol and the search for a replacement. I feel the downside is more limited because of the BODs efforts to make this more than a one project company but from a cash flow perspective they need the EU grant monies.
The higher end (I feel 3p a little conservative ) with funding in place and FID taken not later than Q1 2020.

I feel the risks are now very asymmetric with upside reward being much higher than downside pain

Goodness me it’s all happening.
I wonder whether or why the BOD would have taken this bold decision to invest in H&W unless they were highly confident of the arrangements for both capacity and financing (potentially both via Vitol subsidiaries)?
In other words I’m hopeful that we will shortly hear something on what I had hoped we would hear yesterday on the GSA. And not to raise everyone’s hopes but that the GSA & financing be announced together. Probably a bit much but we will see IMHO. GLA I’m full to the gunwhales

yes I may have been getting a little ahead of myself but one's patience is not inexhaustible and I guess 10 years (since the inception of this project by Andrew Hindle the geologist and former CEO that Identified the potential of this site) is quite a long wait. My kids have gone through senior school and most of University !

Why are there so many sellers on the cusp of news about this project? It makes no sense to me

I think that is a smart move as the margin is so low. I have done the same thing but somewhat larger!

The impact footprint of a project like this is much smaller than a power station or even a wind farm. Given the social and economic benefits of the store it would be a big setback to Larne, NI & ROI were this not to proceed.
However we are one of the greatest on the planet for kicking our own backsides. Environmentally this is a no brainer as it clearly aids the facilitation towards a carbon free future transitioning with natural gas the smallest and least harmfully combusted hydrocarbon molecule.
