NW, not that I'm one to boast, unlike you, in my 30 odd years of investing, I've managed to purchase two houses from my proceeds of investing, I've never had a loan or mortgage in my life. So yes I'm currently down in my investments, like I'm sure a lot of experienced investors are at the moment, after all we are in the middle of a pandemic. I think that I can comfortably stand my current paper losses on shares that I don't ever have to sell. So enjoy your almost recouped losses that you gambled this week on a 5p share, most traders lose their shirt off their backs, so good luck with that. Lets see if you're still hear in 10 years. I already think I know the answer to that one.

NW, I probably received more in BT dividends this year than you have investing in your 5p shares. Run a long, don't let us keep you, it will soon be time for school.

NW, so you claim to have recouped your BT losses in a penny share, a company with a market cap of only £24M, I can only think that you didn't have a lot to lose in the first place.

A nice 5.15% close in the USA on 2x average volume of shares traded. Let's see some follow through today.

Terraplane, From my understanding from the latest BT results presentation, once an exchange has 75% of customers switched over on to Fibre the remaining customers who are on copper, once their current copper broadband contract expires, there won't be an option anymore, the only option will be Fibre, whoever is the supplier is BT or Sky or whoever.

They can't seriously expect to buy the whole of BT for only £15B? Virtually no chance. @ £30B would be robbery.

My rough estimate of BT asset valuation.
Openreach valuation £15B to £20B
EE Valuation £10B to £12B
Rest of BT £15B to £20B

Total asset valuation............. £35B to £52B
Minus debt................. £11B = £24B to £41B
= share price of...................... 242p to 413p

I would be happy with £3 per share offer, like I'm sure most shareholders would be apart from Deutsche Telekom that is who purchased at 441p.

Smalltrader, it's been reported that there will be news regarding the latest trials for the vaccine in November. If good news potentially the beginning of next year we may have an approved vaccine. The Russian vaccine you may already know has not been approved by the World Health Organisation.

100notout, yes I've seen you're post's on the BT board, I'm also in BT, I think that BT is very cheap, best bargain in the FTSE100 in my opinion. Not sure I would touch M&S personally, but they too have fallen a long way, so yes I'm sure that they will also recover in time.

Cheers 100notout, yes I agree ITV are cheap, but so is most of the FTSE100, it's not stock specific, we are in the middle of a pandemic after all. I personally don't ever have to sell, so ITV will recover to the valuation I think it's worth or I will just keep it. ITV is a well run company that I have every confidence that it will recover in the future, I wouldn't like to put a time limit on it though only the foolish would attempt to do that in this current climate. I'm hopeful that next year with the Euros football should give a boost to advertising.

Also, it was interesting to see a few days ago the World Heath Organisation predicting that this dreadful Corona virus should be over within 2 years of it starting, with modern technology playing a part in controlling it, he referred to the Spanish flu that lasted 2 years. Fingers crossed.

Best to ignore the likes of TomLondon who has recently appeared on this board who has been a LSE member for only 18 days, he most probably was banned previously, I wonder why that could be? Most probably for causing trouble. Best to ignore him, he will get board when the share price starts to recover. There is a TomLondon on every discussion board full of BS, trying to scare shareholders with his words of wisdom, ignore the fool. Do your own research and ignore whatever anyone says on a discussion board.

Openreach engineer John McConnell went above and beyond what most would do, he certainly went that extra mile. I'm sure that the two houses on that island appreciated his efforts. Good on him.

I feel fairly confident saying the next 12 months will show us the bottom because Brexit should finally be over with and we'll either have a vaccine for COVID or a fairly good handle on stopping the spread. The economy will be in recovery mode and I suspect BT will come out of the other side OK and that won't be the case for lots of businesses. All of that money swishing around has to go somewhere and I think BT will be a good place to put that money in the evolving economic cycle."

Yes agreed mate. Interesting that the World Health Organisation said the other day about the virus expected to last less than 2 years.

Heallywood, so you think that the share price is going to go below 100p? How low do you predict? I think that the potential takeover bid speculation has already put a floor in the share price, but who knows.

I used to think that Openreach owned the ducts, Telegraph poles and the Fibre they installed, but i was corrected by someone on here and when I checked it transpires that BT own all the Infrastructure and Openreach just ring fence's the staff and management of the BT owned infrastructure.
If Openreach was spun off, it would have value with guaranteed income, but it would be a 3rd party Network management and operations company, without owning the infrastructure, with BT and others its customers."

fleccy, I must admit that I also thought that Openreach also owned the whole network until you pointed out on this forum. Would you agree that once Fibre has replaced the old copper network, with there being less maintenance needed going forward once it's all Fibre that the earnings will drop at Openreach? Or am I mistaken?
