I do agree with most of what you say Fordm. Thankfully, those who consider an alternate opinion to theirs to be “left wing nonces” have settled down in their local Whetherspoons for the evening 👍
The only point I think you and I differ on is taxing the rich rather than look at those who can and should pay tax.
As pointed out on here today, our welfare bill is ridiculous, yet those who say they can’t work seem able to get to TV studios to announce that fact.
I’m self employed, I get no sick pay, no holiday pay, no contributing pension pay, zero, nothing.
I wake up at the beginning of every month with a zero pay packet, and it’s up to me to go out there and earn it. I’ve managed to do so for 25 years so I’m not complaining - I’m just raising the point that I’ve been ill in those 25 years only a couple of times seriously but I’ve had the laptop open on the hospital bed, earning my living whilst I was ill.
I’ve never claimed benefits - if I’m not dead I can work is my philosophy.
When I see people on benefits enter a TV studio to say how they can’t work, that grates a little.
I hope you take my input in the way it is meant as I understand your bother can’t work due to more serious factors, and for those people, I hope we all agree we would look after them, tax wise, forever,
