Both MARS and GNK are oversold. I've not yet looked at MARS but the GNK free cash flow more than covers the dividend. With the World Cup next year, you just need a good run and the sales will benefit big time.

The Free Cash Flow (FCF) for GNK has been rising over the years - last year it was ~50 million and the group plan to save another 45m of cost savings on top. So, I'm actually hoping/expecting a dividend increase this year. The FCF is what's left after paying it's way - including the annual 90m dividend. The next divi is the interim which will be 24m. Then we are into 2018 World Cup - just need a home team to do well and the shares will fly. (ok ok - That's taking it a bit too far, I know, but you can dream!)

I wonder if the articles in tomorrows papers will say that perhaps woody was correct to select AZN? They kicked him over both PFG and AZN recently

Unilever have been buying back their own shares since may 17 but will finish " no later 15 December 17". It looks like they are buying back approx 10% of the shares. If we consider the UK plc shares they plan to buy 128345000 ( max) from 1310156361 shares ( the latter number was from ulvrs website - link below. Good to see a company in this sector of the market recovering. I bought but then bailed out (bottled it - but there you go!).

Qzqz, you Did ask for feedback regarding buyback.. Ulvr is a very very good company. ...zero argument there but it has become overpriced. Why would I invest in ulvr , a single share, when I could get a higher Divi yield from a basic tracker or an investment trust such as City(CTY). The management team either think it's too cheap at the moment or they are propping the price up. Blanchard made his decision at £45. You have to make up your own mind.

The share buy backs are propping the price up- If the price falls sub £40 after the buy back has finished the investors will not be too pleased.

Expect a gradual share price decline as US and UK interest rates increase. Investors will move from safe shares such as ULVR, RB,DGE to higher yield bonds .

"orangetree" - Walbrock Research (for whom you are posting) are "pencilling in a 10% drop in adjusted earnings". This is at odds with the general concensus for a -4% decrease in E.P.S. for year ending 30/04/2018 recovering to +1% for year ending 30/04/19. (The E.P.S for year ending 30/04/2017 was +1%). The group posted a like for like sales decline of 1.2% for the last 18 weeks (reasons; weather not as good/no Euro football) after reporting a +1.5% growth previously. Doesn't sound to me as a business that is in a mess and the divi is strongly covered. Commercial property values are fine when you want to sell but they are running a business from assets that they own. Statements such as "This could send the shares falling towards £5" are at best a guess and at worst aimed at an attempt to deramp the share price. After predicting a share price of ~£5 you state a possible recovery to over £6.50 by this time next year. On what basis do you make this prediction? Walbrock Research is trying to sell it's services.

Obsolete....not my understanding of the latest situation! The current assumption is that rate of return on a compensation sum is negative..but if interest rates go up, then this assumption will be revised. Basically, the sum of money needed for a compo claim that ADM will pay out will be reduced...hence profits will increase.

Over at RMG- trying to convince em to go on strike to fight for their rights - a nice little strike should crucify the sp. Just add petrol and stand back!

Tell the management to stick a couple of zeroes on the end...£375 is not much of a bonus and it means any sign of dissent from anyone and you don't get it! It's just noise. If you can keep the DB pension scheme that would be priority no 1. I want to make a profit from dealing in RMG shares and I think a strike will suppress the share price. At the same time I think you should push management for a better deal. I see this as a win win for us opportunists and the postie's as well. I've known senior management teams to generally cancel final salary schemes but then their contracts are modified to ensure they are no worse off and they can then claim"we too are no longer on a final salary pension" ( which is true but disingenuous!). So, in short, stick it to the man!

Just had a chat with my friendly postie. Seems a dead cert that there will be some form of industrial action. That's his view. He explained that every strike day equates to 4 days backlog (?), the postie's were being asked to work shifts until 7pm because " that's the way the business is going", they were being offered a £375 target non consolidated bonus ( not added to pension entitlement) and it depends on hitting targets, further changes to the DB pension scheme which would leave some members £7k worse off ( per year? Not sure what he meant).

End of June, sales up 1.5% Then sales down in the next period 1.2% and it's a calamity!! A FULL 1.2% Jeez!

why not deliver every other day? Are you in that much of a rush to get your leccy bill and/or those pile of advertisements? (Ok , business deliveries could stay as normal) You could split into 2 groups by postcodes and deliver on alternate days. You could look at staff reductions then and pension savings.

15000 shares in a saye scheme...yep, bet Hermes etc offer a saye scheme..! Looking at the SP today, I can see it dropping when/if industrial action is announced. Any (ANY) bad news crucified the share price... Example , pub group Greene King announced. 1.2% drop in sales...result 16% share price drop! AZN had a failure of a drug , similar fall. Provident screwed up , even bigger sp drop. A strike will drop the SP by 30 to maybe 50%. Trust me, you will just hasten the demise of the RMG by allowing competitors in. Then it will be statutory minimum redundancy. Kiss your saye share scheme goodbye!
