Shorters will be burned ? They managed ok over at Carillion. They've been slowly winding in their positions over the last few weeks (not much to short now - the risk is that someone will come along with an offer, so the risk/reward ratio is low). With PFG. there is no dividend so there's one less expense for the shorters - just the cost of borrowing shares (they've already sold enough to pay the borrowing costs when the sp increased last week). They're not stupid, they do this for a living and most of them are PhD level engineering/science grads - not hooray Henries! They have rules which have been set up from experience and - like the bookies - they usually win. The mere presence of a high degree of shorting should make one concerned.
