Tom, I feel the SP 'hesitation' is caused by two factors:

a) Around 25% of investors aren't worth Jack. They climb onboard wanting to make a fast buck and then climb off again shortly afterwards, without any real understanding about company fundamentals.

b) Pure guesswork of course but MM's want to play the interest in the share, like an angler plays a fish: Give a little line, not so much that the fish will throw the hook then reel in a bit to use up the strength but not too much to break the line. That way you can extend the time that the fish is in the water before landing it, exhausted, into the net.

GGP 3 Doubters 3

An exciting first half in the 'Stadium of Gold saw GGP let in three early goals against the run of play. Gervais Heddle, who had had a great start, was unfortunate to see the ball deflect off his back while negotiating a wage settlement. Sandeep Biswas made it two by avoiding all contact with the GGP defenders and slotting the ball neatly to the ageing Telfer, now 50, waiting on the left field of play. Minutes later, Stephen 'Pop' Bentham, rumoured to have cost over 200 million, rose like a salmon at the far post and netted in the third.

3-0 down but undeterred, the home side reminded the visitors what they were up against by using all twelve tenement blocks at once and drilling in a fine goal from the midfielder Scallywag. Gervais Heddle then made amends for his earlier mishap by heading in an unbelievable goal from the halfway line, aided and abetted by the overhead VAR. Right on half-time Hannam completely distracted the opposition by reminding them of the current value of the stadium while cheekily toe poking the ball which broke through a bewildered opposition and into the net.

So it is 3-3 at half time with everything to play for. Rumour has it the GGP have some star-studded substitutes lined up and the odds are now back in their favour. Exciting stuff!

Quitefrankly..the packet of Rennies is a standard fixture beside the bedside lamp these days. However, sometimes the 'call of the cod' is too much to resist. They sing to me like Sirens in the Odyssey. Short of tying myself to the banister railings like Kirk Douglas, I see no way that it can be avoided.

We went out and had a pint of real ale in the local, finished it off by getting fish and chips at the Portuguese-owned fish and chip shop (which I ordered in dreadful Portuguese, nearly getting fried socks and pajamas) and took them home to eat in our estate (the patio).

Several thousand down today. Could be several thousand down tomorrow. Will be uber thousands up by Christmas. :)

Back in the day (violin playing) there was a general agreement on the 80/20 rule. I.e 80% of your business comes from 20% of your customers and I believe it can still be applied to many things, investment included.

I bet 80% of the investment in GGP comes from 20% of the investors.

I'd also love to know, and I'm sure it is on a computer somewhere, how many people are invested in GGP. Obviously, this will alter depending upon the strength of good news/no news/bad news but as an average, right now. Freetrade and the like must have brought in thousands of minnows. It could be mind-boggling.
