Is it a good idea to make things that are good for you immunogenic?5 Feb 2021 16:24
If you have invested here, then by default its a yes, whether you have thought about this issue or not. Explain Why.
I will start with a No and explain my reasons briefly.
A vaccine, is vector with which you get your immune system to remove a 'harmful' agent from your body. This is a good thing, its what we want and how we have almost eradicated many diseases and saved countless lives since the middle of the 20th century.
Getting your body to produce an immune response to something that is very beneficial for us is not a good thing. Altering the 'good bacteria' proportions in the gut, and having a constant inflammatory response switched on all the time, it is the quickest way to alter the quality and span of life.
When you alter the proportions in your microbiome, pathogenic species seize the opportunity and run wild, C. difficile is one such example.
