RE: Muck - Question or anyone else in the know?23 Sep 2021 00:26
I won’t even pretend to have greater knowledge than others, and what I say below may be entirely wrong, but my views are;
-BBI we’re the first manufacturer AVCT appointed, but they pulled out if memory serves because they couldn’t manufacture at the required cost. BBI are a major player.
- ABDX may also have encountered similar issues, which may explain the lack of any meaningful statements about what volume they can produce for AVCT, any real excitement about AffiDx in any ABDX announcements, and the allocation of ABDX resource to other contracts like Biosure.
Medusa 19 Ltd have high interest in AffiDx, initially just as a distributor but more latterly as a manufacturer (it seems). They have 2 products to sell - RSPT and AffiDx. RSPT seems to have gained no traction, yet Kamani and Hughes injected significant capital into a newer company, Medusa Healthcare, a manufacturer. It seems obvious to me this new manufacturing will be dedicated to AffiDx, and that they can bear production costs because they will also get distribution revenue. I also think they can improve scale if parts of the tests are manufactured by someone else, ie ABDX. We also know M19 have conducted usability trials for a test, although I don’t know if that was ever confirmed to be AffiDx. Usability studies are only necessary if HUA is the target - this D2C market is what M19 has exclusive worldwide rights to if I recall.
So I think manufacture of the final AffiDx product will be done by M19, at scale, and using components made by ABDX. ABDX will receive a margin. M19 will receive a manufacturing margin as well as a distribution margin.
Whether ABDX has already made some batches of the full final product I really don’t know!
