The spread shown has been a minimum of 5p every time I have looked. This is a massive spread - usually it goes down to 1-2p for most of the day.

Ha ha the 169.5 did give me a minor coronary... thought PL and Matt might have found a way to rank the SP so they can top up. ;)

Sorry if already brought up - I've been working today. Has anyone noticed a very large spread most of the morning? Every time I look at HL it is showing a very large spread. Not sure if just HL issues?

Matt / you can link accounts on HL so you can switch accounts more easily but also I think going with another provider decreases risk on volatile days.

I’m sure you all probably know this but in case anyone doesn’t- you can put money into Avacta in a trading account and the first 12.3k of profits is tax free - then you can sell after 6th April and put into ISA. Depending on broker you might have to sell and rebuy (this is the case with HL this year) so there could be a fews days gap as funds clear. Ideally you could fund isa first and then sell and buy on same day/time but that assumes you are flush with cash! Also you can make use of your spouse’s allowance if you open a trading account in their name (with their consent of course etc).

He didn’t block me. I was polite and I think he realised that if he blocked me for asking him to be useful and find new ways to mitigate rather than relegating something potentially extremely useful to the bin then he would look a bit more than just biased.

He is brewing up a real following of covid skeptics when I looked this morning. Mothers refusing consent for testing. He is a dangerous man who, in my opinion, lacks the ability to be unbiased in his analysis. He lets his emotions (hatred of LTFs) get in the way of seeing progress in the testing industry. The anger we repeatedly see from him reeks of analysis based on only selecting data that supports his narrative. I am happy for him to call out the flaws of testing, so long as it examines all the flaws, which they ALL have. He also needs to recognise progress and not be biased in reassessment of tests. I called him out about only being negative and not assessing what could be done to mitigate issues surrounding LFTs. He deflected and ignored. That is not the sign of a scientist looking for solutions. Far from it.

I have shares over there. It is really pathetic I agree. For some unknown reason they think because Avacta price went up and ODX has hovered around 90 ish that AVCT is the cause. What they can’t see is that what has actually driven the price here is affimers. The test is really important but the bigger picture with affimers is why there is such strong sentiment here. I initially here last April because the reagent supply issue and this test wouldn’t rely on it. I have added a huge amount as I have researched the company and affimers.

My HL app is fine on my iPhone - but I think there has been an update to the app in the last few days as the linked account has changed slightly - it looks different in how you switch accounts. So maybe you need an updated app.

So answer me this...What is different between last August and now? Are you saying there has been no progress and we are still down a garden path?? That’s more than unfair. I don’t disagree the Alastair has been naive on timelines and not done himself any favours. He has however been thrown number of challenges including problematic condor and very low infection rates and therefore very few samples which was highlighted at the end of last September. However now we are actually in full CV after having had very good results in an initial clinical trial. We are clearly in a different place than q4 last year. Bringing a product to market in less than a year is still impressive and the thing is - there are a number of other companies still struggling and further behind. And even if they are successful too it doesn’t matter - all tests will be bought. The recent message of collaboration in the consortium is a clear indicator that competition is being put to one side for the greater good.

I think the affimer IP is clearly what is being assessed and on ‘trial’ and has given to a larger than expected (for those that are unresearched) SP rise. For those that are researched here - this is not unexpected and this is where the divide exists. Of course there will be volatility until final confirmation and orders but I think I can certainly live with that risk/reward.

Where would the difference be balanced? Have the mm’s found some shares under the bed? I’m just joking - but keen to hear opinions from those that insist that MM’s don’t play games ... I haven’t made my mind up but today’s action feels a bit more than some PIs getting scared. The buying back up to the 240s from 235 was strong - much stronger than the selling down from 275 this morning.

I'm honestly not that bothered if we stay around here until 6th April. Gives us a chance to top up more in new ISA. I think the only thing that annoys me is the likes of $noop getting kicks from a fall. The hatred of Avacta on these boards and twitter is really juvenile. You could argue it might be deramping, but I think some of these people are far simplier than we give them credit for...

I think that is a fair point goldtrig and Schrow - you can't please everyone. However, I also think Paul would be open to constructive criticism (you would have to be in this industry and media). The fleshing out of Al's answers is great - but he could work on changing his body language / tone to being less excitable (without losing the excitement of the content). It would just make it more carry more weight and perhaps just a little less cringeworthy when his technique got a little too informal. They may well have a relationship, but very few will understand that (if true). Having said all that - a huge improvement on Giles.

I really did want to put some tape over Paul's mouth a few times - particularly when he said 'I wouldn't have thought of that'.... Al's laugh at that point whilst he tried to carry on was hilarious. Paul is a huge improvement on Gile's but he was definitely hyperactive as a kid. Sounded like he has some food intolerances and is hoping there is an affimer to deal with that...

Doesn’t that assume the interview was conducted during the day? It could be that the interview is happening now or after market hours and then an RNS in the morning would cover the backsides?

Competition put to one side... I bet if any employees of any of the companies in the consortium read this BB tonight they would be peeing their pants laughing. Fortunately I’m sure they are all working very hard with long hours trying to get our lives back to some kind of normal whilst we waste life arguing like these testing companies were our football teams.

Have you looked at the year end accounts RNS’d in February? I think there is an answer in there ;)
