You my find plenty resources in them thar hills, but the crusty caravaners will make sure a mine never appears. Millions will be spent fighting them and on delays.

VOD isn't seen as tech really, so Nasdaq listing wouldn't help. AT&T the biggest in US have had same issue with stock price stuck in a range since 2003.
Comms is a commodity with a race to the bottom on pricing and no economic moat to force higher prices.
The towers are infrastructure and there is some increasing interest in that, but not comms.

Last 10 years VOD total returns (cap + divi) was 6.24% per annum, but the past 5 years has seen total returns equate to -0.5% per annum.

So are the next 5 years like the last, or like 2011 to 2016 when returns were good, that's the question that will answer whether it is effective hedge against inflation or not.

Yes the current plan is to list about 20% and VOD retains 80%, so raising €4bn at current estimates of the IPO price.
Eventual IPO price could be higher or lower, so VOD get less or more on the day.
Portion of shares floated could also be higher or lower.
A few unknowns until the IPO happens.

You don't need 10's and 10's of positions, just keep VOD as a smaller allocation.
The world's best pro managers will often restrict themselves to 5 or 10 positions, but one will be 20% and another may be 1%.
I follow a few. Dorsey Asset is a good example, all be it in USA. You can see 11 holdings in just 2 sectors, biggest over 20%, lowest 1.9%.

It's not boring stuff rich, it's an extension of the main discussion we have been having here all 2020. Don't put a large portion of your portfolio into VOD expecting the high 'safe' divi to provide you with market beating portfolio returns.
The divi is not safe, and provides no return if you lose the same in capital decline.
VOD should be 2% max I think. There is some hope of a gain so it's not a complete avoid, but I wouldn't over commit.

Be intrepid. Just don't buy in your full amount on the first go. Get 10% of what you aim to hold and wait and see what happens. If it crashes 50%, you just buy more.
Bitcoin will have downs, but it's legit and here to stay. The long term trend is up. Tesla is an enigma that will grow into it's valuation.
Start small and build yer holding on the downs.

I love my bitcoin and Tesla. It's very hard to love VOD. That's it's problem.

Brokers don't set the price, they facilitate the sale. You need excited buyers to drive up a price, and the excitables tend to favour risky companies. Just look at the most popular boards here on LSE.
VOD is also risky, but no excitement from the buy side, hence the soggy pricing.

I would of thought there should be some RNS about the suspension. They were due to be de-listed on January 1st if they did not comply. They have at least done the 2019 accounts, so should maybe confirm an extension.

The mast are being listed and the price is unknown yet. €20bn is a top end guess, but importantly note that VOD are not listing 100% of the stock. VOD will retain most inside VOD and list about 20% to raise about €4bn. The small portion that will go to debt pay-off (if any) will barely tickle the sides.

The idea is to create a value for the masts, then supposedly the London market adds the value onto VOD SP for the 80% retained, but it may not.

The CEO in waiting for masts in on record as wanting to leverage the SP to go on a buying spree. All-in-all it will probably result in more debt, not less.

VOD likes buying things and raising debt. The leopard is showing no signs of changing it's spots.

Waiting is the name of the game at CGNR, for 20 years. The prof is always enthusiastic. He has to be to keep sucking in new money to stay afloat.
If it's approved at the AGM, get out on the pop, or settle in for a very long 6 to 10 years of 'fantastic progress' at the JV, followed by placing diluting holders to keep CGNR in the JV game.
Buy AAZ if you believe in it.

They are certainly stuck on a debt refinancing treadmill. 2021 needs to be the year of rising sustainable net profits, or market will destroy them.
The divi return is not safe and guarnteed, is the message I just try to convey. Don't make VOD a large part of your portfolio. 2% max if you must.
