Your welcome BT. I thought the same but as a shareholder in Eqtec I couldn't find any information on a Protos project so had to look EQT up on the internet.

BlueToff. EQT are not the same as Eqtec which is EQT on Aim. They are investors in projects.

That refers to Covanta's site on plot 8 that is being constructed now. Its a joint development between Covanta ,Biffa and EQT. So yes it is.

Further to that I thought I would just post peels timeline as its still relevant.
Protos at Ellesmere Port, Cheshire (Part of Peel NRE)
- Design & development of a local CO2 network will continue to enable emitters at Protos who capture their emissions to transport their CO2 to the HyNet pipeline which will be developed adjacent to Protos. This will further contribute to reducing emissions at Protos and delivering net zero in the North West. Completion expected by end 2025.
- Feb/March– completion of the Protos Grid substations to import and export electricity at Protos to the regional grid. This will also give Protos the ability to provide power to occupiers at Protos. This will enable 50MW of export capacity and 6MW of import. Full export of 124MW and 57MW import due October 2023.
- Spring - planning decision expected to bring the first Plastic Park to the UK to process some of the 4.9 million tonnes of plastic waste produced in the country each year.
- Summer/autumn - start on site at the plastic-to-hydrogen facility to turn unrecyclable plastic waste in the region into a clean fuel for buses, HGVs and cars.
- Autumn – completion of three further ecology areas providing habitat for wading and overwintering birds and water voles. This brings the total area dedicated to flora and fauna at Protos to over 45 hectares, the equivalent of 45 rugby pitches.
- By summer – completion of phase 2 infrastructure works including approx. 1.6km of roads, bridges, drainage and ecology areas to facilitate future plot development on site.

Ledzep Hi, I don't suppose you noticed how far the building of the substation just along Grinsome Road was going. As there is a cable link for the DMG plant that leaves there and goes underground up to Protos roundabout then into Protos site to terminate at the Plant? Google maps only show up to October 2020.Even then some works looks to have taken place as ground looks disturbed in places.

Leo This should show you the whole site schedule of works for plastic recycling. Plot 13 is expected to use electricity and heat from DMG plant and Hydrogen for HGV internal and some external Movements. Commencement of DMG construction is by Peels timeline summer and or Autumn. Nobody is going to spend up to 26 million just to have the plant sitting there and not earning.

Yes Piltick, you are correct with that. Its being developed on plot 8 of the Protos site and part of its consent has the requirement for the Manchester Ship canal off loading facility to also be in place to supply its feedstock. As I have said before Peel are just the facilitators for the Park. They own the land and the canal plus they are very good at planning applications. However they need to bring together companies such as Covanta to bring the Park to life. I know that everyone is frustrated at what seems to be Peels lack of progress with the DMG plant but you can see that they are still pushing on with Park as a whole. Still to come is the feedstock goods inwards site and the advanced mechanised plastic sorting site. Its not in anyone's interest to have manual plastic sorting using labour. So there is still someway to go yet.

How about this Doc. Vlad fearing that Poland will get the FOAK DMG plant before Russia. As that will hit their gas exports. Has decided to attack Ukraine Knowing that Poland will be drawn into the conflict with the effect that it will slow HUI progress getting the loans from the EU. :-)

How many DMG PHE plants would be needed to supply Vlad's invasion force of tanks and other army motors. Presuming that they are Hydrogen powered. Pure EVs are not an option as they would have to build charging points all along their borders before an incursion could begin. :-)

Well operastar I can assure you that it is easier to operate a site with access to a stable power supply. For such items that need welding, lights canteen etc etc. Only item that could be carried out is groundworks as that can be carried out by diesel operated machines. And believe me electricity is a definite requirement as my 50 years in construction has taught me.

I should imagine that the 104 planning documents are giving those that access the application and then produce advice notes to the committee a tough time to work through. I know from experience as I have been through some of the documents myself. Two points regarding information I have gleaned from various sources. The PHE plant need a link cable from the Protos substation shown on one CAD drawing. So that means at least waiting till the end of March according to PEELs time line. Another source indicated that the company that can produce the modular plant can manufacture up to 3 a year. So a possible 4 month manufacturing process. That ties up with Peels start of construction on site in the summer. So I see nothing at the moment to worry about. Even if planning for the rest of the park is slow.

Reply to RSM61. Peel are management facilitators with extensive land banks. They are the ones that will bring together waste management companies that compliment each other. I also believe you will find that the exclusive agreement only covers municipal solid waste. That leaves Tyres and solid sewage waste as other forms of energy capable of being extracted via a gasification process. They are outside of the agreement. Problem still arises with lack of investment from third party sources until a full scale commercial plant is up and running. And the only two possibility's at this moment in time is Protos and HUI. HUI is dependant upon EU funding that could take up to a year to obtain.

To Patxaran and RSM61. And how do you propose to fund the plants including the expertise in planning application. Plus find suitable land to put such a plant. The original expected costs for 10 plants over 10 plastic parks was £200 million pounds. As I understand it the first off will be possibly in the order £26 million. PHE has a lease on plot 10B at Protos. How do you get out of that. Peel have not secured any 3rd Party investment as far as I am aware which is the time that they will pay over their exclusivity payment. There is also an agreement to take unrecyclable plastic waste from an adjacent Protos plant and supply it with electricity. So unless you or the rest of us small shareholders have £26 million in our back pockets. Its best to stay with the current arrangement. For as long as it takes for the first plant to get up and running.

If I may add to your comments. The oil industry I understand, currently only derives 30% of its turnover from plastic production so its obvious that they will keep and expand its production to maintain its use of oil fields. Fields that have cost a considerable amount of investment and gives an income to many on a global scale.
Plastics have the considerable benefit of being able to replace the use of wood products such as those used for fence panels, cladding, decking etc. To me, that alone is a method of carbon capture. Especially as wood has a limited life cycle and continues to have to be replaced yet plastics last for so long.
On a slightly different note, I am beginning to wonder. And this is pure speculation on my part. I have watched some of the excellent posts with links to how much plastic is destroying the ecology of our oceans. And it makes me angry that there are so called emerging countries who spend more money on nuclear weapons and the space race. Who cannot come up with suitable recycling and waste disposal faculties that leave the poor with no option but to discard plastic and other waste in rivers ending up in the sea?
One such link showed a micro plastic particle, only visible to a microscope that is capable of being eaten by plankton. I assume that they eat. But they certainly get eaten by other larger species again and again right up the food chain including us. Now the link I believe possibly exists is with dementia. My own mum in laws favourite meal 2 to 3 times a week, was cod in Parsley sauce. Her dementia was progressive over 7 years. She passed away in December 2020 People say its because we live longer which doesn’t explain why some people show signs at an earlier age in their 40s. So is there a link to micro plastic and this aliment as they both seem to be progressing in tandem.
It’s worth a thought.

A big thank you to all who replied to my question. Lots of good and varied information. That now just leave me with the one other question. What happens if just one of the requirements for financial close does not fall into place? My view so far is that a continuance of the extension is the best option. Unless there are a number of other companies that have Peels expertise in putting together what will, Im sure, turn out to be a world leading plastic recycling facility. With the DMG plant as part of it Im sure that it will be an excellent marketing tool to show how clean up the planets unrecyclable plastic waste. Such a standalone plant in the poor areas of the third world countries would not only give them a source of employment but energy as well. Now that is the sort of project that gets my vote to return this country charitable 7% of GDP financial support. Onwards and upwards.

I might just be showing my ignorance here. And not wanting hunt through reams of past posts. But what is the financial close that is being referred to here and there. And if it takes place what exactly does it mean?
