Yes Stophe I believe it does. Although there may be reduced costs for the plant owners if both DMG units feed into the same electricity generation or hydrogen conversion process. That's a saving in plant costs not licence fees.

Yes NH I read that. There is still room at Protos to add a future additional plant up by the ship canal. Perhaps that could use old tyres delivered by barge for that process.

Quite right DMG is the process. Im only up to page ten so far as I have read and re-read those pages and can see no hidden problems so far. Truth and transparency has finely come home to the Board. I like the global patients being filed and protection of IP rights. Even though they admit they cannot stop duplicates of the process being achieved by others. A possible future fly in the ointment. What say you Doc?

Thanks for the update LZ. Perhaps I need to give the yellow man a miss and await for your next visit. With regard to the Bridle way. You could be right except that would require a change to the approved cable connection layout drawing submitted to the council. Plus it would be a convenient route for supplying Plots 12 then 11 followed by 10B and possibly 10A. As I understand it green perimeter wire mesh fencing is to be erected around most sites. Plus its a requirement to have a safety fence for any worksite as children are attracted to them as a playground. But we will see when it happens. Its nothing to lose sleep over. Have a nice break and I hope that the Pandas come out to greet you when you return.

Believe me when I say that your videos have been extremely encouraging to see the extent of the works or lack off. Depending on your personal view. Living here on the Essex coast means that the best I can hope for is the little yellow google map man for a look see to what is happening. Only problem was he last visited in October 2020 and there was not much to see. Just some exploration trenching along Grinsome Road. And nothing to see on the plots 11 and 12.
However, this morning my little yellow man took pictures of a new Sisk site compound in Plot 11 by the Protos roundabout dated May 2022. Now that looks like its about to kick off at our end of the park. August start at the end of the bird nesting season is still on the cards in my view. Keep up with your videos please if you have a chance.

Doc, I think that the board were playing for time on that score just to say that they were doing something. If they wanted such a plant just ask Chester university if they can build a slightly larger unit to replace the one that looks like a product from the scrap heap challenge program.

You have called it right there Super. As long as the IP rights to the process are sound then anyone can build a plant. And they still have to pay the licence fee for each year they are in operation.

Yes LZ approval recommended and with only 38 conditions that should be easy to adhere too.
Although there was a number of times that the Plot 10A application was referred to as the Waste to Hydrogen plant in 10B. A typing error I suspect.

I would think that the following expertise would be very useful for the next batch of planning applications if PHE is going to spread around the UK.

Keith is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers with 45 years of experience in energy, waste, and resources. Following 24 years in the power industry working around the world for companies including Bab**** and Rolls Royce, Keith joined what is now Veolia in 1993 as Project Management Director. In 1996 he was appointed Managing Director of Hampshire Waste Services Ltd (HWS), where under his leadership the company worked with officers and Members of Hampshire County council to create ‘Project Integra’, a partnership between 14 local authorities and HWS creating the first integrated waste management service in the UK based on the principles of the waste management hierarchy. This multi-£billion contract has endured to this day and is still operated by Veolia. Hampshire’s success in recycling and recovering value from waste formed the model upon which most international waste management companies in the UK now operate. Keith also represented Veolia on new initiatives such as renewable energy developments, climate change impact reduction and responses to UK and European environmental legislation.
In 2003, Keith was appointed Managing Director, of Veolia UK Ltd – which grew to become the largest waste and resources company in the UK. He was responsible for the company’s energy from waste and other infrastructure projects, as well as its municipal operations in London and southern England. On stepping down from Veolia in 2012, Keith founded Vismundi Limited, a company advising on the recovery and management of resources. Along with other projects, Vismundi is advising Peel NRE Ltd on the development of their plastics-to-hydrogen project at Protos.
Keith is also a partner in BH EnergyGap LLP, and a non-executive director of DRENL Ltd, both companies being developers of waste and renewable energy projects. Until its acquisition by Powerhouse Energy Group Plc in 2020, Keith was also a director of Waste2Tricity Ltd.

Keith holds degrees in Nuclear Engineering from Queen Mary University of London and in Humanities and Social Sciences from the Open University. Until recently, he was a visiting professor at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of the University of Southampton, a member of the Industrial Advisory Panel for the MSc in Environmental Engineering at Imperial College and up to its dissolution, was Deputy Chairman of the South East England Development Agency. He is an experienced public speaker on a range of technical, economic and social issues relating to waste, resource management and sustainable development and has presented to the NGO Sustainable Development Committee at the United Nations in New York. He has an extensive record of publications in technical and professional journals and was awarded the James Jackson Medal of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management in 2005 for the paper ‘From Waste to Resource Management’, which laid the foundation for the move towards resource management in the UK and is still cited to this day. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement National Recycling Award in 2013.

PT, you could be on the ball with the loan angle. Personally I know from starting out my own company 48 years ago the bank wouldn't lend me the 6K I needed without taking my home at the time as security. So it would make sense for PHE to cover their loan to the SPV with some form of security. Except the idea was to provide funds for the special alloys that were to be used in production.
Personally I would have those materials as collateral rather than a promise of future part ownership. Especially as the material costs now have inflation at 10% or more to contend with. Plus the SPV is really a method to protect Peels financials and not PHE.
As I have said before Peel needs the rest of the planning permission to be approved before there is a total commitment to commence construction of the DMG plant. So far there has been another comments submission to the planning committee from the BIO team but no content text was showing on the planning site.
However, the very fact that the bridal way adjacent to plot 13 has been closed off and diverted gives hope for a start on the PET plant. That alone could be a precursor to the DMG plant also commencing the build. Especially as they could feed of each other for energy and feedstock.
Fingers and toes are crossed at my end for an August build still.

PT there is no percentage taken by PHE only the one off payment to be paid by peel for sole provider of plants and their licences fee of 500K. That was originally a 40/60 shared cost with W2T.
Doc, Original cost was estimated at 20m by PHE. Then later at 22m by research companies with the provision that costs will reduce to as low as 10m per plant if 6 or more are produced. As I used to carry out quotes for over 40 years my estimate is 26m for first plant reducing to 13m for 6 or more.
Cost will be even lower if two or more plants are manufactured at the same time. Such as Glasgow and Protos. Even though Glasgow site needs a storage silo for waste which may not be a requirement for just in time deliveries at protos from other plots

There is already a pipeline of two dozen screened sites in addition to the 11 on Peel land. Peel intends to establish investment special purpose vehicles to fund each project with an initial capital commitment of c £200m to meet the agreed pipeline of 11 initial projects.
