I doubt that, I really do. Milei has made his position on the FI pretty clear and it hasn't cost him any real support. Most Argentineans don't give a stuff about Gaza or the Middle East - they have a lot of other worries on their own door-step. And the Israeli Govt aren't going to damage one of their flag-ship companies in public

Regretfully things aren't going so well in Argentina (do they ever?). There's a long article in this week's Economist that reckons he's caught between a collapsing currency and the need to curb inflation. They badly missed their agreed targets they have with the IMF. Congressional mid-term elections occur in October and, due to the electoral maths, Milei will have to work with the opposition going forward

The only plus point is that the Peronists are in even worse shape "We either repeat phrases from Peron from 50 years ago or we snipe at colleagues " one of their leaders said last week.

If it's been painful for shareholders think of the FI Govt. Nearly 20 years of listening to tiny, under capitalised oil companies making promises they could never hope to keep. Their job is to make money for the FI - not support Sam and the boys on AIM

The answer is of course yes. Why would you want to take the risks of drilling and exploration when you can sit back, employ a couple of consultants and pay yourself a very good salary and bonus? Why take the risk of another 15 year struggle?

With Navitas concentrating on Sea Lion it's going to be mid-'30's before they develop any other exploration plays. Sure they may HAVE to drill a couple of exploration plays to keep FIG happy but NAVTIAS aren't an exploration company and they don't need the PR puff that surrounds exploration drilling.

Best bet for RKH shareholders is a takeover by another medium sized outfit .

The last one was a re-post of Kimm Clays ADVFN post - that's someone who seems to be well informed

I agree Nick - - we'll get permission from Stanley without a doubt. I'd guess Mr Miliband may try to intervene but the FO, the Treasury will go ballistic.

Always good to have a good laugh late on Friday. Who on Gods earth would describe ANGS as ever having a strong team? the people who re-entered the wrong well, the ones whose main director had to step down due to fiddling his share sales, the people who thought hey could use 2nd Hand US kit in the UK, the ones who drilled possibly the most expensive ever onshore UK well which never produced as planned, the ones who entered into a series of hedges they couldn't meet.....................

I'd agree it's not easy to get into N America - a lot of small UK companies have tried and failed over the years. But to me one of the reasons has always been their cost base- London salaries, costs of listing, the corporate gravy train for all those NOMADS, PR people and lawyers. Murders any chance of duplicating the success of small US companies.

They're the Organ Grinder, not the monkey, Ocelot as you are well aware. Do you think these appointments would happen without the OK from Trafigura??

Nick - that's not a real comparison.

The 3600 islanders are the only people with a vote - they're NOT part of a bigger country like the crofters in Scotland. They elect their own executive. What they say goes. The UK Govt is only really responsible for defence and foreign affairs with a fall back on making sure they place isn't taken over by drug lords.

If you don't understand that you really need to do some research.

However, the islanders WILL vote for oil development- they're not stupid.

With oil revenues they will be in a far stronger position in talking to Whitehall and Buenos Aires. They are also highly patriotic and, even tho they complain about every UK Govt. they are very aware of the sacrifices made on their behalf by the UK. They can see this is geopolitically very very important.

The point is what will they spend the money on? Neither Biscuit nor I think they're going to turn the place into Monte Carlo, Miami or Dubai tho'.

Sounds like everywhere else. And, yes, I've been there as well.

But even in Stanley you don't hear people pining for the Big City Life. Those who do leave (tho they often come back later).

And teh FI Govt keep a very strict set of controls on who they let in.

More likely that some of the cash will be distributed to everyone and people will buy nice places in Santiago, Dubai and the S of England.

I think they're too bright to do a Nauru - where riches were blown on importing Porsches onto an island with a single road 24 kms long.
