As I said - they're not stupid - they 've already spent time talking to the Norwegians and especially to the people running the National Oil Fund - there was a link on here earlier this year

There is ALWAYS technical risk of course - you don't know for sure what you've got until the last drop of oil and gas is produced. I#d say the risks are relatively reasonable and they are known - I'd be surprised if there were any Unknown unknowns here TBH. My biggest worry is the degree of interconnection between sands - but they won't know that for sure until they've been producing for 6-12 months.

I think we were all agreed that Ocelot is not paid per post nerd sitting in a bedsit. She/he is a paid employee or consultant to one of the outfits that advise and support these small AIM oilers. She/he is VERY careful not to tell any outright lies, and generally sticks to the official line - and THAT has been checked with m'learned legal friends for sure. When we've posted this before he/she has never denied it nor commented on it. She never talks about her investing history - in fact I can't remember her ever saying she's invested in any of these stocks.

We get none of the horrible family background stuff that people like Heid shovel onto the board. Nor the "I was an Investment Banker/ for 999 years" claims of others.

They're a coll professional , paid to push the stock . How he/she sleeps at nigh tho' is beyond me. It's not a job for a decent person, and I doubt they boast about it at the golf club, or over a hand of Bridge

3. Reliability & maintenance of the "pre-loved" FPSO at the end of the world

Patrick - where will the money come from? They can't or won't pay their current bills. Spending a few million more is hard to see.

Maybe if they followed BP's suggestion and ran velocity strings they could stave off the end a bit longer.

But the field is grossly underperforming the "expert" views in the TWO CPR's - so we have to assume that the reservoir is not as they thought it was and it will take an extremely long time to get out the gas which is there.

And ANGS do not have that time. New ANGS might - but that won't be of any concern to anyone currently invested.

That's true but only up to a point.

there are 4000 people in the FI - they have a very limited knowledge set. They rely on the British Geol. Survey for their subsurface work, they talk all the time to the NSTA, the EA and HSE in London & Aberdeen. The Treasury also advise on things like Royalty & taxation. FIG is totally dependent on these groups for advice and on who to to for third party advice. It actually suits HMG not to be too close to the FI - they can always stand back and say "it wasn't us guv" if something goes wrong and they need to talk to Argentina. "Independent, don't y'know..."

They're never going to cross the UK Govt. if they can avoid it (and vice-versa). FIG takes the final decisions but they're best thought of as "guided decisions".
