JHI don't seem to be doing very much. It is probable that they may be taken out or farm the acreage and retain a small interest. It's a long and tortuous trail from any money coming into JHI and thence to Westmount and thence to their shareholders.

I'd guess that Trafigura et al don't want to be lumbered by having to actually abandon the field eventually - day to day they could just fire the Board and the senior management and leave the technical staff to do their best but it's a terrible distraction to the business of making money from money. And the possibility of all sorts of PR issues if something goes wrong. Local councils to deal with, Ed Miliband all of whom want to talk to "the top man"................ awful!

No, best to leave the problem in a separate company . You can always find a willing stooge to take the management job for the title and a reasonable salary.

Legally that is correct (except in exceptional circumstances) but practically there is a world of difference. The FI is totally dependent on the UK Govt for defence, for supplies, for assistance in all sorts of things such as schooling. You can't run a country deep in the S Atlantic with a population of a small village in the modern world. So the islanders are "mindful" of what the UK Govt. wants , or doesn't want.

The main defence of FI Independence is the firestorm that would be unleashed in the press and Parliament if the islanders complained. UK Govts have learn't over the years that the fight isn't worth the damage it does. Right now, especially, they won't want any more brown stuff flying around, whatever Miliband might want.

There is no value to the PI's - any value is all swallowed up by the debts owed to Trafigura et al .

You keep changing the numbers and it gives you different results. You get to use your judgement to select most likely results

You also use Monte Carlo statistics to examine the effects of different variables.

It's very clever

You then make predictions which you put in a CPR

And wait two years to see if you were right. Or in this case really really wrong

Ocelot - you clearly don't understand how reservoir engineers work

They build a computer model of the field with the help of the geologists. They then run scenarios of different production rates, differing numbers of wells etc etc. At the end it gives them the in place and recoverable reserves and a forecast production history. The three numbers are absolutely linked.

If any one result turns out to be badly wrong it means the original model is flawed and the other numbers will also be wrong.

The last reserve estmate was in the last cpr.

That also forcast they had a 90% chance of producing over 9mmscfd today.

That was horribly wrong

Why should we beleive the reserves calculsted by the same oeople??

Yesterday fro example a steady set of small trades - £ 100 to £ 500 - were keeping the share just above the critical level.

As forecast the rampers are out in force but they have no actual information, not even a dodgy steer from the PR hacks, on what is happening. Desperate attempt to try and crush any posts that dare to suggest that ANGS are in deep financial trouble (tho stockraiser did admit it in passing)

Surely they must be in a decent bank position with current revenues from production? They also have a clear insight to the reasons and returns any work-over may need and the RNS is positive in that sense about production and the field itself.

they never publish any financials - I 'm sure they're buried somewhere on a Canadian Govt website but have never been able to find them.

Since they're not apparently doing anything much, and there are no rumours, I assume they're sitting, waiting for someone to make them an offer. Maybe a deal like Argos cut.
