Corib is NOT offshore Cork - its offshore the NW of Ireland - most Irish gas comes/came from the Kinsale Head area se of Cork discovered in 1971 Corib was discovered in 1997 but an unholy alliance of locals and greens delayed it until 2015 since when it has been in steady production. It produces up 60% of Ireland's natural gas needs

Exploration offshore Ireland hasn't been very successful and a lot of money was spent out in the Atlantic with very poor results - most of the big boys have moved on. The current Govt seems to be against issuing any new licences as well.

Royoboy - that storage is a buffer storage - for the refinery to smooth out peaks and troughs with deliveries - it's not medium or long term storage. the UK has almost no ne of that - the Govt wouldn't agree to a small increase in energy prices 15-20 years ago to pay for it. People like Infrastrata were planning large scale storage but it all died a horrible death - and we are living with the consequences now
