Who is going to do that?

Navitas have a plan for Sea Lion that stretches out for quite a while. They're not explorers by background but developers. They'll be aiming to explore after Phase 1 Sea Lion to look at post Phase 2 developments. I can't see them putting a load more cash in until they have proven Sea Lion is on target production-wise. The deal they've just cut for Namibia and Guyana is more like it - spread the risk elsewhere.

The only other player locally is JHI , who seem to have fallen into a deep sleep, and probably haven't any cash - like Argos.

Anyone else can either buy into JHI's acreage or wait until the Govt holds another bidding round. They take about a year to carry out the bidding process and another 6 months to decide. That means no drilling on any new licences until 2028 or later.. Again pushing extra developments into the 2032 zone.

If someone gets into bed with JHI you won't see a deal finalised until Q2 at the earliest - that means a a rig in late 2027 at the earliest - and they'd need 3 wells at least. Then the whole design process................

I honestly can't see why that would happen. There will be steady development progreess - tho nothing that really changes the figures, almost everyone who is currently in knows the score and the timeframe, and it's a medium term -hold with possible upside of a takeover as we get closer to first oil.

As I've said I did quite well last year (tho ' not as well as others) and sold out (for the 4th time in 15 years). I expect to go back in sometime in mid 2026 and hold until after First Oil - maybe as far as the end of Phase 1 development.

Who is going to pay 4x current prices for a company which (as you lay out) has extremely limited upside. If I wanted to buy them out I'd offer 3p a share and probably be killed in the rush.

It's always been very clear - the Joint Venture (i.e the Licencees) are responsible - joint & several. If any of them go bust (or disapear - which actually happened at least once) then the others have to cover the costs. If there is only one company left they are responsible for ALL the costs.

Some sort of Parent company guarantees were always required for subsids. That's fine as long as the Parent Company doesn't go bust. It's often been thought that onshore UK, the interweaved interests could cause a rush to the Receiver if one outfit fails, as everyone tries to get out before they're left holding the babies.

What happens if they all disapear is something the Govt have never formally addressed. M' Legal Friends seem to think that the Landowner will be responsible..... If you think there's ben a lot of noise about hunting just wait until you see the headlines when THAT happens - the NFU will go BALLISTIC.
