Thanks LP- Great find regarding the interferon nasal drops. I did read about it but couldn’t place where. Looking forward to the next couple of weeks, a lot going to happen soon maybe a couple of RNS’s in that timeframe too. GLA.

Sharesting- I seem to remember reading something about the Chinese giving their first responders droplets but that may have been from the Cuban backed interferon production Alpha 2b. Think that would target the upper respiratory tract obvs so possible protection from Virus entering the lower respiratory tract. Have no idea if it was effective tbh.

Exactly peter, when you dig around there is a lot more positive than negative research on the use of interferons against virus replication. The MIT piece even said itself that findings are not certain and would need further study. I’d rather trust a study where they have used it in vivo. Anyways let’s hope it’s a good week for the share and progress against the virus. GLA.

Jack- I do welcome all opinion tbh and I looked into the recent work at MIT. What I found, and others may take a different opinion was that it was actually already known through original SARS COV. So they have kind of reinvented the wheel!. As I say I’m pretty certain it didn’t tell SNG anything they didn’t already know. The only slightly annoying thing is that all this was posted yesterday so feels like we are going round in circles.

Well Jack- that answer will be provided soon. It is but I know this drug acts like a conductor of an orchestra. It doesn’t send in all the troops at once. It initiates a balanced response. As I say please watch the CEO VIDEO. It’s all opinions as none of us are experts but I truly believe they wouldn’t as a company have paused their COPD phase II trials unless they knew they had something. As always DYOR but also follow the money. :)

SNG001 was well tolerated in SARS AND MERS COV too so I don’t see any reason for a cytokine storm in SARS COV2 given that they can both use ACE2 receptors to infect cells.

That’s wrong jack the overriding principle of SNG001 is to prevent the cytokine storm and control a more balanced response to attacking the virus - please watch the recent CEO video on you tube he very clearly states this. Plus yes the trials appear to be going well and why would the CEO four weeks into the trail be talking about ramping up production of inhalers and making millions of doses and trialling home therapy if this wasn’t working???. These guys are well ahead of any of us and if this wasn’t being a positive experience for them the CEO wouldn’t be talking about this being ‘our time’ and everyone at the company being Adrenalin fuelled. They know they are onto something imo.

Phoenix- I was concerned until I took a step back and gave it thought and realised that the interferon response is very complex. The elderly with underlying conditions have even less ACE2 levels. That leads to inflammation. Even if that one thing leads to a increase in virus cells then the lessening of inflammation is a worthy trade off. Should state I’m no doctor but the overwhelming data already out there shows interferons to be an effective way of treating virus replication overall. And the mode of delivery,would, I assume dampen down the ACE2 response throughout the body anyways. Don’t know if anyone can confirm that. Difference between injecting/inhaling interferon.

Live science piece just reflected MIT findings but even MIT’s findings were full of caution saying that all these things need to be looked into further and that interferons have proven benefit and some downside. These cells make up 10% of the body so even if they all succumbed it wouldn’t kill you. The damage is doing far worse than that and Interferon Beta 1a showed efficacy against SARS COV, HN51 and MERS COV. All Coronaviruses. That was in cell culture, monkeys and humans.

Experts knew about this with original SARS COV and Synairgen would have known about this development years ago. SNG001 does lots of things to interfere with virus replication not just raise ACE2 levels. I believe Beta doesn’t raise them as much as Alpha anyways. Kids are full of ACE2 and elderly patients not so I don’t see this one piece of research by MIT being that significant tbh. Synairgen have been experts in respiratory lung function and disease since their inception. Let’s have a bit of faith in that please.

Woodstock- family member had it and a friend. Both had it quite bad elder relative, who is a very tough individual said it was like being hit by a train. A friend who had it was in bed for over a week and recovered.

Hi Oil, I’m not sure someone with a common cold will want to take a 2 week supply of SNG001 to be on the safe side ?. It is a powerful treatment afterall.

Surely the way things are progressing is towards the above. Once we have effective testing kits which can be mass produced, we can then combine that with a therapeutic like SNG001 or maybe others to help stop this thing in its tracks before replication becomes high enough to cause serious illness/death. You can see why Richard Marsden CEO was thinking along those lines. Ideal scenario, no one has to leave home during course of treatment, no great spread and no risk to the NHS/operations of hospitals who can then get back to focusing on other sick patients.

In the press yesterday a hospital in Cheshire was using a Cpac box (lightly altered little black boxes normally used with sleep apnea). Levels of successful recovery are much higher than on a ventilator (50-50 chance) and don’t have to be intubated. Provides a constant airflow. Promising.
