ChasPB hope you are correct in the time you suggest, however whatever the general time is one's own situation will depend on how you develop antibodies. This reduces with age and condition. My wife and I get PCR tested and an antibody blood test each month as part of the ONS study. I have passed muster on antibodies but my wife is a bit older mid 70's and on immunosuppressants for arthritis - and has been negative throughout. Boosters may help us but I wouldn't assume anything and going forward I think this winter is going to be pretty bad. Mask up (with PP3) and stay safe ...and get a proper test if you have an doubts.
My wife did a Fortress/ Imperial test in May. Negative antibodies as on methotrexate for arthritis. Done 4 antibody tests with monthly ONS/Oxford Uni study as well. All -ve
Hi Moniman - always thought that it originated in the Wuhan Lab since reading this articel from 2017 - https://www.nature.com/articles/nature.2017.21487#change-history
@wfc61 The tests from Medimap Ltd are doubtless the Acon Biotech ones - see the MHRA approval at https://www.lateralflowtest.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/MHRA-Approval.pdf. Whilst the company name and address has been removed Tracey Oakey is an Officer whilst Graham Oakey is the MD - see https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/05422384/officers and https://www.linkedin.com/in/graham-oakey-50076b14/?originalSubdomain=uk respectively.
Dear All, I ended up looking at the spinning icon as did others so emailed the host. Answer was this "If you refresh your browser everything should be fine, alternatively you can login to the platform and go to the meeting on the dashboard and in the top right you can click to provide feedback."
Hope this helps.
Lets be positive. My view is testing is just beginning. We are becoming accustomed to personal health monitoring, swab or saliva testing in domestic and work settings and lining up for tests in a way we never have before. I hope that rubbish tests rubbish LFTs are "thrown in the trash" as the FDA wrote a while back and as standards are developed quality will rise to the top of the market. In terms of Novacyt I see a tremendous R&D team having been built and don't forget they have over 500 different tests that can go through PCR. I think the marketing orientated CEO coming soon will be able to get increased traction in the global market place. So yes the volume of Covid tests in the UK may (hopefully) drop, but I can only see the sales value at Novacyt increasing from the £7m a month in May. Sure there will be dips and the pace of their growth I cannot predict, but I am sure of the direction.
My son called on Tuesday to say his partner now has Covid, probably contracted when in hospital Friday night for something else. She is 40 and double Pfizer vaccinated a few weeks back. He called again Wednesday to advise that his PCR test proved positive. The two Innova Lateral Flow Tests they each did were negative. Slightly younger he has only had one jab as her 13 year old child (now recovered) had Covid two weeks back so they had to isolate then for ten days (as did we at that time). The facts are what they are regardless of how people may wish to think them different. We need good tests for a long time yet and must maintain our guard.
The DHSC should be ashamed at the absolutely disgraceful treatment of UK companies such as Novacyt and Abingdon. My heart goes out to those made redundant at Abingdon because the DHSC won't pay their way. The Abingdon MCAP is down to £30M this morning at 31.5p ....Novacyt has money in the bank ...I wonder what would happen to both share prices if Novacyt made an offer for Abingdon. Can't see it happening as with a new CEO coming at NCYT, growth into the USA signaled and cash being reserved just in case it might be a brave step.....But wouldn't it be lovely to see two fingers going up to someone and building UK strength by standing together rather than being at risk of being picked off cheap.
Just checked - no longer at Bain Capital - see https://www.linkedin.com/in/melissa-bethell-52a97a43/?originalSubdomain=uk
@Hillseaker I think the reason they may not have gone into providing a travel test service is that would put them in competition with many of their customers. I reckon they are sticking to the knitting. Re the current share price I have no idea as to why it has dropped other than every time an RNS comes out the market makers seem to make it drop and without specific news doubt always seems to be cast. I am remaining very settled with my savings in this as all will come out in due course. Also happy about a marketing orientated CEO coming soon.
