I am with you there although I managed a small top up on Monday as tax man paid into my wife's SIPP. That's it again now - still all in with SIPPs and ISAs and sleeping very well as the Novacyt business continues to grow. Very interested to hear more about the expansion and things at IT-IS as they can be the tool for all kinds of local point of care testing....not just Covid.
The Government national validation page states that 19 tests have been validated but only 17 are shown. I gave feedback on the page so it may be updated again; currently last updated on 19th July and lots showing as work in progress. Note also that there is caveat stating "Other technologies that have been validated will be added to the table once the manufacturer has consented to publication."
Probably worth a new subject heading to alert people to the chance of reducing the amount of self isolation - see https://snapsurvey.phe.org.uk/dcts/ as you may be able to join and if you are lucky you may be in Group 2. (Group 1 just get one PCR at home and still have to isolate for the ten days.) It took a day or two to get the kits of PCR on first day and LFT, followed by LFT every day and then PCR and LFT on final day. If you are also fortunate to have negatives then you get 24 hour release from isolation although guidance says to limit your contacts as you might expect.
Jackin we were invited onto the DAILY CONTACT TESTING STUDY - see https://snapsurvey.phe.org.uk/dcts/ as you may be able to join and if you are lucky you may be in Group 2. (Group 1 just get one PCR at home and still have to isolate for the ten days.) It took a day or two to get the kits of PCR on first day and LFT, followed by LFT every day and then PCR and LFT on final day. If you are also fortunate to have negatives (and I hope you are) then you get 24 release from isolation although guidance says to limit your contacts as you might expect. All the best.
Unlikely to buy Eurofins - on the link you sent it says "With over 50,000 staff across a decentralised and entrepreneurial network of more than 800 laboratories in over 50 countries, Eurofins offers a portfolio of over 200,000 analytical methods to evaluate the safety, identity, composition, authenticity, origin, traceability and purity of a wide range of products, as well as providing innovative clinical diagnostic testing services and in-vitro diagnostic products."
wfc61 Novacyt are bound to know of the Eurofins Group for sure; Eurofins Biopharma Product Testing and Water Hygiene Testing businesses are located just 0.3 miles from Primerdesign in Camberley. See https://www.eurofins.co.uk/contacts/eurofins-biopharma-product-testing-camberley and https://www.eurofins.co.uk/contacts/eurofins-water-testing-camberley/. Whilst speaking wide and I had our monthly routine PCR and Antibody tests today as part of the ONS surveillance we are on. Wife is always negative on antibody test as takes immunosuppressants for rheumatism. Hence just bought some PP3 face masks as they will help us reduce chance of breathing in the virus.
Looks like the Government figures confirm my suspicions - see https://www.gov.uk/government/news/weekly-national-flu-and-covid-19-surveillance-reports-published?utm_medium=email&;utm_campaign=govuk-notifications&utm_source=5a34f841-cdcd-437f-8508-e24aea682573&utm_content=immediately
"Surveillance indicators suggest that at a national level COVID-19 activity increased in week 28 of 2021.
Case rates continued to be highest in those aged 20 to 29, with a 7-day rate of 1,154.7 per 100,000 population. This is the highest case rate recorded, since mass testing began, in the pandemic for any age group.
The lowest case rates were in those aged 80 and above, with a 7-day rate of 60.6 per 100,000 population.
Seven-day case rates per 100,000 population increased across all regions."
My double vaccinated immunocompromised wife (with three negative antibody tests) and I are now self isolating. Stayed in the garden last Saturday at sons place and left when his stepdaughter returned who turned out to be +ve as did 40 from her school. We are both fine and we were not even together so have no worries but will be good and isolate until Wednesday. My conclusion is that things are changing as within the last ten days I now know of people who have died, people who are ill at home and someone in hospital. Before then we didn't know of any cases....test, test, test has to be the mantra. Still fully invested with all my SIPP and ISA. Make your own decisions and suggest the use of FFP3 mask if you want to protect yourself. All IMO
Dear Kitzie,
There could be many that are vulnerable as they may assume they have antibodies when they don't. In one way my wife is fortunate in knowing that she is vulnerable She is on immunosuppressant drugs for arthritis which is common in older folk. We both had Pfizer jabs, second one in April and get monthly PCR tests as part of a random selection from ONS/Oxford University study. They started doing antibody tests, I am still positive but all three tests so far for my wife were negative. My guess is she has little if any immunity; how many others might be like this (but don't know they don't have antibodies). Hence PCR test has to be the way to go and antibody testing can't be far behind....We think we will drop using masks when they don't wear them in the NHS. Stay safe everyone and hold steady for the growth of Novacyt...all IMO.
Am I the only one shocked to see the rise in the graph just shown 13 minutes into the BBC lunchtime news? The massive ramping up in June/July must be down to the "research" going on at Wembley and Wimbledon ...or could it be down to the Delta variant? Either way very concerned as not even reached "Freedom Day" on 19th June, and the 300,000 shown on the graph should/could lead to thousands isolating for 10 days with consequences for businesses and people alike. So what will the numbers be when we unlock? Currently the App triggers on 2 metres give or take and 15 minutes, so no wonder the sensitivity will be lowered. Just really concerned about the sign of things to come, a crazy number of people likely to be told to isolate and sadly many more with Covid, mild or otherwise. I am wearing a mask until they stop doing it in hospitals. Testing going to be is massive demand IMO. Stay safe everyone
Yes NovaTec is part of Eurofins Technologies - see https://www.eurofins-technologies.com/about-us.html
Dear all, seems to me if everyone is claiming to be invested they might do well to think about the subject heading they are creating or replying to. I read all the posts good or bad so have no problem with people speaking their minds, I will form my own opinion. One can still respond to another poster's comments by creating a new subject heading which may not in itself be damaging to a company most if not all of us are invested in.
Hi st3v376, my wife is on Methotrexate 20mg once a week and daily Hydroxychloroquine sulphate 200mg so don't know which might be responsible for showing negative for antibodies. Stay safe.
Not wishing to dampen prospects of easing international travel but worth mentioning my wife is on immunosuppressant drugs for arthritis (not that uncommon in older folk). We both had two Pfizer jabs, second one in April and get monthly PCR tests as part of a random selection from ONS/Oxford University study. They started doing antibody tests, with two each so far, I have antibodies but both of my wife's tests were negative. My guess is she has little if any immunity; how many others might be like this (but don't know they don't have antibodies). Hence PCR test has to be the way to go.
Just seen this report mentioned on the Novacyt chat site on ADVFN - see https://erxnews.com/news/232404/pcr-kit-market-2021-to-witness-splendid-growth-by-2028-in-worldwide/. Seems to me that Covid is the catalyst to a future of widespread testing for all sort of things. The FDA have already recognised that poor quality LFTs from Innova need to go in the bin and others may eventually wake up to using high performance tests and PCR that can differentiate. Any company with the kit for near patient testing and 500 plus tests is surely going to do well IMO.
Dear 'opportunist I think this could be Charles Ford's LinkedIn page - https://www.linkedin.com/in/charles-ford-5a702b8/?originalSubdomain=uk
