Surescreen are selling to the Professional market only. Have doubled sales from 7 million to 14 million tests a week AND are creating an additional 1000 new jobs etc, etc….

ODX have the manufacturing capacity in place, have staff on standby and have their own test. They can either win a manufacturing contract AND/OR manufacture their own test……

If Surescreen can achieve this then I personally have faith ODX can also. It is huge market and not one supplier can supply all tests. Unfortunately patience is a virtue.

So you managed to talk directly to Surescreen. Who were you speaking to? If these tests are for professional use only who is buying them in these quantities and why a Government contract for professional use?

CTDA is the recently introduced evaluation and approval protocol.

Surescreen to date are the only UK approved LFT manufacturer. They got in before the evaluation protocols changed. There a new set of challenges where companies must now pass CTDA (covid test device approval) and this is where the bottleneck is in terms of evaluation and approvals. Unblock this and we could see a lot more UK companies enter the market with lateral flow tests reducing the need for Chinese tests.

For all of us who wrote to MPs, the media etc, I suggest we write again and ramp up the pace otherwise this will just fizzle away. I for one am happy to write, write and write.

Cavity - The cohesive attempt to support the British Diagnositc industry as you mention should have come from BIVDA (British Invitro Diagnostics Association) of which of most Biotech companies are members and pay fees. They have said nothing, took no action or anything in nearly 2 years of this pandemic. So off you go boys go knocking their door asking questions. They continually flag up they have great contacts and can influence change so come on BIVDA let's see some action from you.

pumpky - A lot of people are now testing daily, care workers, school kids, students, those in hospitality, the public in general etc, etc. Say for example just 10 million of our 66 million population test daily that's a staggering 70 million requirement a week. Just do the maths

Given ODX have an American on the BOD who has a pedigree as long as your arm perhaps he should start earning his keep and open doors in the US for ODX. What does he actually do for ODX?

We have 5 adult kids all at home, some working with the vulnerable and we have vulnerable relatives. So before going to work, shopping etc we test. Just got into the habit of it. You tend to use a box and replace it, although some of us get tests through work, but when you sit down and then add up how many in a month tests are used, it's an awful lot of tests. Guess if they were not free no one would use them.

A few weeks ago we hadn't even heard the word Omicron. How many cases are there now?

Personally me , my family, relatives and friends test daily if going out/have been out. That's a lot of testing. Just my immediate family alone we need over 200 tests a month.

You can say what you want but unless Boris gets his finger out his a** and soon he is gone. He is now pushed to the wall and going to have to make changes with regards testing

Computer 909 - Thank you for your comments below. Someone with common sense at last. Must be annoying for all these derampers to have solid facts!

The Preproduction Payment remaining payable by the Authority in accordance with Schedule 3 shall be paid by the Authority provided that they have been spent by the Supplier as at the End Date. Where the Preproduction Payment has been paid by theAuthority but not spent by the Supplier as at the End Date, it shall be repaid by the Supplier to the Authority within 30 days of the End Date"

Simply the demand from the DHSC for repayment is requiring ODX to demonstrate they have used the prepayment amount on the contract, once ODX have documented this spend and forwarded this to the DHSC, ODX wont need to pay back at least anything they can demonstrate their expenditure on.
