The company just pushing ahead with there plans,union and employees warned gls will be split unless the ducks get in line…
Union warned job losses will take place unless the ducks get in line.
The first steps taken today with a rebrand.
Could they really take all the packages off the ducks.
Could they really leave them with just letters to the ducks.
Could they ask the ducks to apply for the new jobs and toupee over to the parcel side.
Could they really give more pay as an incentive to the parcel employee side to make it more attractive to anyone inc other delivery companies.
Could they really take the best ducks from the postage side.
Could they then really let go all ducks then not needed over a few months of disciplinary hearings due to poor records.
Surely not,all this without even thinking about what might happen if k gets a hold…

This is not hypothetical. It is reality. I see it every day. The covid pandemic has given Royal Mail managers to do what they want. If jobs are lost or vacancies not filled it will get worse.
You want a business to compete in the courier world, but job cuts do not work. And nor do the majority of suggestions that Thompson makes.

claiming he's spoken to many that have no idea what will happen to them. He must look for orange coats ( makes a change from the white coats he used to) or goes chasing mail vans around. They probably look at him blank because they think , who is this ****womble.

Love it....seen as I dtop off over 100 parcels a week at two of our local sorting offices,you get to no quite a bit over the years...even walking the dog past the pickets with 4 old people there...a few weeks ago I asked them about going on strike..which opens pandoras box...blank expressions...the union there no clue...I even had to print off the agreements for them lol...a week later the rep told me they carnt rip up the agreements...lol...clueless springs to mind..

what will happen if posties continue to strike v what will happen if they don't strike and the CWU just accepts all the proposed changes?

I could very well let you no my friend…but with the time you have available it would be more beneficial to read through a few months of threads then come to your own conclusion…you do what you feel is right for yourself…which ever way you go the outcome will be the same,it just means one will be more painful than the other,if you honestly cannot see what’s going on right in front of you then god help you

A company that “needs to innovate” shouldn’t be giving out hundreds of millions in dividends to shareholders and then treat its employees like they are the problem.

Soooo last year..keep up…that money is being spent right now in Madeira….

More efficiently,streamlining until your bum gets sucked in,faster work rate,less overtime and more productivity,less sick pay,make lots more money made to give to shareholders and pump up your rate of pay in the future…if it helps

Rm has changed a lot over the last few years with no industrial action from the union, Thompson has pushed to far taking money off postman before any increase in wages that's why there's a strike

And it now needs to change a lot more to keep up with the changing conditions,something the ageing workforce is struggling with…this is now why your conditions are about to change if you like it or not also,not meaning to sound brutal…you ain’t seen nothing yet…welcome to the real world…

I shall answer my own question,the reason the reps on here,won’t answer it as they no very well they will lose more support quicker than posting a second class letter up a 100 metre steep driveway and stopping half way as there not fit enough to do it in one go…
It’s embarrassing really that the full facts are not given to the average postie,so they can make an educated decision,and if not sure they can ask….many do not even no the company are in the process of ripping up agreemets…I could go on…but until next week(weather still forecast to be nice all week)I will sit back and chuckle…the silence is deafening as the truth hurts…

Now this really does some up the posties and union...

In all seriousness I do feel very sorry for the average postie ..alot I talk to look at you confused when you ask them about the consequences of what there doing...nothing has been explained in any detail what/will/could happen to them shortly...they seem to be in a bubble,union says strike so we strike...no one seems to of mentioned to them things could turn out alot worse for them...for this the disaster lies at the union and its reps doors...the posties will soon start asking more questions once the changes are forced on them..could of this been avoided..yes...should of it been avoided yes...Will any one in the union send out an email to there members outlining what's to come if they carry on...err...no...

The positive is that this will have to be resolved in the next 10 weeks or less, because legally the company can start firing anyone who partakes in industrial action beyond that date. Simply because the company has offered and proposed

Iam also sure the posties no they have one of the best terms and conditions contacts in the sector..

Perhaps other employers work force will apply to fill the dead wood which will be chopped(see what I did there)
One company I dealt with did exactly the same with regards sickness..changed the terms..them put each employee on disciplinary watch..then as they entered the procedure were dismissed at the end of it..nothing the union could do...you either got on board or went through the disciplinary procedure on all counts of not doing your job to a pre determined standard...I can see this change happening as we speak..keep striking boys:-)

An educated guess imo..would be r/m are not interested one bit in offering any more money,until they accept change…nothing is set in stone and they may offer a little more…but the company now have the union right where they want them…I suspect they will want to make them squirm…until the workers realise there time hasbeen (I like that one)been and now gone.keep striking boys:-)

The company will no by there own internal figures the cost of the …not fit for purpose workers …if you want to put it that way…changing the terms and conditions,attacking the sick pay…weeding out the lazy…they will no that 10 years down the line the drag on the company will be even worse…I have said this many times,this is not about here and now…but years ahead…the union have played straight into the company’s hands,this is because
A…every time in the past they have won.
B…they expect r/m to fold again.
C…now they realise Pandora’s box has been opened,and they cannot shut it,to try and save face the only tool they have is more strikes.
D…more strikes now means the tools in Pandora’s box that were not available now are.
E…now r/m can finally get to where they want to be,it will take a while,perhaps years,but it will now get there….
Those that use the sick system will be outed…those that physically cannot do the job will be outed.
The company will no that the above,if they are struggling now will be useless in the long term plan…r/m are grasping the nettle and there is now nothing the union will be able to do.
The public are turning…a game changer…what can the union do..
Absolutely nothing…please keep striking boys..push that share price lower…

When I was a rep...the hardest thing I found was how hard it was for most to take there foot off the peddle..it was a case of this is where we want to be and we are getting there no matter what...
My take on it was always ...that's where we want to be...we may get there at some point...
You have to no when to step back,regroup and go again...this lot have no clue what so ever...even when told there will be job losses...its full steam ahead...a job is a job...no matter who's it is...in which department...it doesn't matter...someone life has changed...for any one, especially a union rep to say they don't care about that senerio,I find disturbing...
As I have said...it doesn't matter to you until it is you...then it's every man for themselves...that's when things crumble..it starts with one brick...that first brick imo has crumbled...ducks will fall in line...

So in the space of 18 hours we go from the company being in a bad way and administration (where shareholders come last) to investing more of your thousands.

Certainly…made that much last time iam not playing with my own money…you keep striking…you keep shooting yourself in the foot…let that share price slide…let me buy on the cheap…then hopefully once the time is right…sell so I have more paid for Madeira hols…70 degreas yesturday,supposed to be nicer today…and just so you no for future reference…I will buy more if there’s significant drops…this is actually a small investment in the bigger picture of my portfolio…it does make me laugh how union reps get blindsided,they carnt see the wood for the trees…it’s so hard to back down once you’ve spouted off..
