I don’t think there bothered…I would say from what’s gone on that they are just looking long term…as I said short term pain….the market always look ahead..if they can see smooth running long term and more money coming in there happy:-)

max they are hemorrhaging money with casuals. Also budgets are not being adhered to by managers as they are only interested in getting mail out with o/t. as they lost their annual bonus for budgeting and there is no control from above....

Just my view but I think they have already priced in no profit this year,maybe next…no divi,no money..no pay rise,I don’t think there bothered now…short term pain long term gain…personally think they will just keep employing temps at what ever cost,more on with enforcing change,not give in and start again once it’s done and dusted…please keep up the good striking:-)

Maximas1 its is not easy to find people to do the posties job to replace them. most of posties are over 55 and they will leave the job if the terms and conditions are changed. we will see what will happen over the next few months. If you correct I be the first one to say to you that you were correct all along but if Royal mail back down to the union than please appear here and post that you were wrong.

Excellent news….hoping to buy a few tomorrow…although it would not surprise me if the share price rose as it would be taken by some as a mail in the coffin for the posties…change forced on them quicker and decisions made:-)

Royal Mail PLC (LSE:RMG) has received a near 70% downgrade to its profits forecast from UBS, though the Swiss Bank suggests all the bad news might all now be priced in.

UBS sees downside given the UK division's low historical margins, challenging environment for growth and difficult relationship with its main union, the CWU.

Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini-Budget might also keep inflationary pressures higher for longer, while overseas business GLS is also facing pressure on volumes due to the impact of the cost of living crisis across Europe.

The bank’s underlying profit forecasts for the three years through March 2023 -2025 have been slashed by respectively 97%, 85% and 39% with UBS also predicting no dividend this year,

UBS has chopped its price target to 205p from 280p, though the investment rating remains at 'neutral' given the possibility that all of the headwinds are priced in.

Shares rose 0.7% to 197.3p.

The cwu union have just died right there….**** scared of going to acas as they no acas will side with r/m….posties need to just sit back and await the onslaught of change…music to r/m ears…they can then challenge any legal route the union takes saying they exhausted all negotiations…the cwu bottled it…clueless springs to mind…the union should be ashamed of where they have taken the workforce..now down a one way road with no way of turning back…just to save face…embarrassing really :-(

As we are borrowing a **** load of money and interest rates are rising,many think it’s not sustainable…if there is no growth then we are like the posties…up **** creek with no paddle for generations…a massive gamble:-)

How odd that a white-collar worker has just echoed the sentiment of probably 90% of posties.
There is nothing hostile in my posts, just facts. But you do agree that the up-coming strikes strike a chord with you.
Why should i agree work "X" amount of Sundays when this is the day i generally see my grandchildren, if the great and the good are not expected to do the same. I work 5 Saturdays out of 6. Do you? NO! But if your t's and c's were to be changed dramatically, to include weekend working, you may well throw your toys out of your pram.

If k gets in,your union agreements are torn up,I will try to put this delicately…..you will be told …you work for the company needs…you will do it….or else you will be on a disciplinary…which can be gross misconduct for refusing to follow a management direction…when I say R/m are now covering all bases behind the scenes they are… no tribunal,no redundancy,you work as instructed or your out…there even clamping down on time off due to sick…so that avenue will close…:-)

Forget the divis now…that’s in another universe lol…a lot has changed in a short period…you should be concentrating on the here and now…which is not looking good ….ripping up all previous agreements opens up another level of cost cutting…which if not done through streamlining will end up with jobs…
The union will not want to go to acas as they will look out of touch with the real world,the company no this and have put the ball in the unions hands…it’s another tick in the list of things to do box…so then if the union still don’t get it and push on with the only tool in the box they have…the outcome implemented on the workforce will make them look incredibly inept at what they do.
Going to acas and loosing the argument will also make them look inept…basically there up a creek…spare paddle anyone

EvenThe Guardian was urging RM workers and unions to go through the acas route in an article a couple of days ago -- not a good sign for the union's when you have a paper that is basically pro union stating things like this IMHO

Been a while since I dealt with acas so stand to be corrected…but both side put there cases forward…acas then points them in a direction….if it went against the union they would then look extremely week:-)

As a couple of posters here have alluded to, It's fairly clear that the BoD plan is going to schedule. Give a huge amount back to the shareholders, award yourself and your work colleagues a nice bonus despite not meeting your targets, then antagonise the workforce so that they will go out on strike and you have a perfect scenario to drive the SP down in the hope that a whale will swallow up the cheap shares.
What I can't understand is why the shorters aren't getting involved in a bigger way given that the SP has dropped 64p in the last two weeks.

I would suggest the shorters/there companies no a lot more,and alot quicker than we do,they to make mistakes,I would hazard a guess that quietly they have been adding…also the k news once it comes shortly could have a big impact on the share price and they don’t want to get caught out..

Surely two members of staff is pushing it. Cannot the person doing the feeding not then sprint to the end and do the collecting? Would have to be fit though.

It wouldn’t work…he would need a break for dinner…:-)

Has anyone even thought that k might be happy driving the price down in the background to buy it on the cheap,then offer a good pay rise as long as modernisation is implemented :-)

Strike as we carnt do anything else…now we’re looking down the barrel….and the union says this evening……we don’t no really what to do as we didn’t see this part of the plan coming…tell you what…as we really have no plan let’s escalate the industrial action…thus helping Royal Mail out..lol
And guess what….the posties all sit there and nod…lol…
