I would suggest they will be tip toeing around the idea…small steps to get the uso moved…as things are right now I personally think all these problems coming together at once will push the people in charge of these things to start helping the situation,otherwise they will have a problem they don’t need or want…this I turn will then help the company streamline…it would not surprise me one bit if terms and conditions are changed in some sort…workforce get on board,or let go/sacked…no pay off needed…

If you're only delivering a few times a week you're actually delivering more post on those days not less.

And saving man power,fuel,servicing time of van,green green green…less co2….it will happen ..

If/when the uso changes,as it will probably have to as the government won’t want r/m….and everything coming to a head….there won’t be any fines,a lot less posties due to working changes,(delivering less post a few times a week instead of every day)as I have said many times,company’s don’t stand still,they survive,they won’t give a toss,they will change and get stronger…

mike 1974 you forgot one thing................ the present staff will not walk away with nothing!!!!!! change of contract if not signed= unfair dismissal, check it out.... i do not mean an hour here and a hour there i mean Sunday working, grabbing allowances etc. etc on future contracts.... as for a wastage of staff of 8000-10000 a year .... where are you getting these figures from? even simon thompson admits the average posty has 17yrs service....

I’ve been in this situation….it’s very easy for the employer….just make things extremely difficult for the employee,natural wastage….my time as a rep I was also at a few tribunals….there a lottery,plus you think 20k is a lot of money in settlement…it’s not…it’s easy for the employer to just sack you and take the hit….they will pick on the low lying fruit as we say…the employer won’t give a **** about you as long as your gone…if that’s what they want…then you see everyone quickly getting on with the job as they don’t want to be next…seen it,done it…many times…

Things are coming to a head nicely,one thing is for sure,the government will be under pressure here,a change to the uso,
Delivering a few days a week to built up areas,once a week to rural,not taking on other companies mail for the last bit and being paid a pittance.
I can see the company being picked up on the cheap,I can see the uso being changed so the company makes money,I can see less vans needed to do the rounds,I can see less fuel being needed,I can see big redundancies in the work place,I can see the business being streamlined,can no one else see this coming at some point…

You make me laugh…wud love to be a professional letter box opener,but I carnt…my fingers arnt long enough and I failed the walking in a straight line and breathing at the same time task…apparently there’s an app to use…a lot of posties have the earplugs in and the app says …left right left right…breath in breath out…funny thing is i would prob pass the grammar test though…just carnt get the letter box thing right:-)

It’s not about a few months lol…xmas…the big boys don’t care,nor will the large share holders…it’s about long term…the more the posties strike the more it looks like a new owner will be coming in…check out the shorts…another big indicator of where many believe the money will be:-)

Pity the workers carnt see the wood for the trees…a lot may have to work shifts shortly at Tesco to make ends meat….please keep up the good work…strike away:-)

Glorified paper girls and boys…not heard that…bit disrespectful…but a little truth in it….iam very happy the way the workers are conducting themselves,and the union….hopefully it will turn into ££ for the shareholders…then move on….if not…little lost…all part of investing..some you win some you loose…but this is looking good…even if the largest investor gets the knock back….he will be back with friends…there’s always a plan…bring it on:-)

If you haven’t got the worker with that get up and go,self motivated,thinking ahead,then no matter what,it will be hard to get them to change…unfortunately to be a postman you don’t need to be that educated,so a lot of workers that carnt do anything else ended up on the mail many years ago…a manager can try to motivate…but if the worker is set in there ways,think there protected by there union,then it will be very hard…..once this dispute reaches the end,there will be a lot of workers either gone,or working a lot harder otherwise they will be gone….and what could they do if this happens…very little iam affraid:-)

Maximus, armed with your in depth knowledge of RM UK, you must be laughing at those long term holders that have been buying on the way down or have bought in at a much higher price?

Never laugh at any investor…those that have the balls to invest there own money have my respect…not those who sit on the side and never take a chance…you will find investors make money from many different avenues or shares…you will also find many invest there gains in well educated guesswork/gambles..…so there playing with profits…in r/ms case…there’s quite a few that maybe sitting pretty waiting for right time to get out…those that take educated gambles make money…you should take your hat off to them…many have easy lives due to taking a chance:-)

AngerSharkz, admittedly the population of Germany is 20% more than that of the UK and as Maximus put it, DHL is a juggernaut, so why hasn't the RM UK BoD had the vision to make RM the UK juggernaut?
The bod get paid the big bucks to come up with a vision and take the workforce with them but sadly three RM CEOs have failed to do this.

Quite an easy observation this..
Royal Mail have one massive disadvantage….most of the workforce would not have the skills,nor the inclination,nor the hard work needed,nor the dedication to change,nor the self belief,nor the ability to not moan or realise that if they did they would reap the rewards in a few years..
Now if they needed the workforce to sit back and get someone to do the hard work for them,get a pay rise and better terms and conditions before they attempted to change there beliefs,they would be over qualified :-)

With all due respect to the royal family,my heart goes out to everyone,but call me cynical…that gets the union out of a hole.

Even the shorts realise that something is in the making….drive the price down,get out,then get back in before the push up….the only one not taking notice is the union:-)

When you now see openly the panic within the union,writing letters (that won’t get there for a week due to strikes)to anyone that will listen (inc the media),that they now realise that something is afoot…I just cannot understand a union taking there work force down a route to oblivion…if they now feel that there jobs are not secure due to the fact a takeover may happen,why on earth are they not telling there members to accept new pay and conditions,change and do there best to get the business profit making,then accept better pay further down the line…I find it staggering that they have got there selves in this situation and don’t take a step back and re-evaluate…come back stronger at a later date…don’t pick a fight you carnt win…peoples lives are at risk…lemmings springs to mind:-)
