Doye - The MS deal is new news since the listing and should significantly increase everyone's outlook, so I guess it's just a case of where you started from. In my experience, history is littered with examples of genuinely innovative tech stocks which the markets fails to value correctly for many years due to focus on traditional value metrics where they always look expensive.

Perhaps when you notice that Darktrace is essentially unique in this space - the MS deal (despite having their own cyber security business) is the clue......

yep - with the price now at 430p, I think this ship has truly sailed! :-))

..and indeed both DS and Autonomy have a common denominator - Mike Lynch. Of course he's in a bit of bother re the sale of Autonomy to HP where the US is attempting to have him extradited to face charges of fraud!

Yep - stock just hit 375p. MS deal interesting as they bought CyberX last year, supposedly a competitor to DT. This would seem to be an admission they don't have all the bases covered and that DT has genuine IP advantage.

Looks like James Holder, one of the founders but no longer involved in the Company, has decided to reduce his stake a bit (8% to 7%). Bet he wishes he'd done that a few years ago!!! ;-)

CSD - It's been a dreadful decade for HY/Value shares, but the tide seems to be turning strongly here - I predict a great couple of years for these stocks (eg REITs like this, and UK financials). Hence, I wouldn't run away too quickly!!

Thanks Teela - was wondering what had pushed it today, and you've answered that below. Those patient enough to sty in, and/or brave enough to buy more on the falls are now being rewarded!

Bp - TBH, I wouldn't buy here if you're a newbie, and don't have diversifying investments elsewhere. I like this company, but it's risky for sure - it's not making any money currently, and you can never be 100% certain that new tech doesn't make it redundant. I hold about 40 different shares and a bunch of funds, so I'm happy to take a few punts, but that might not be for you.

Yep, it's been pretty dismal, but energy prices are only going one way from here which should reverse the NAV, whilst the running yield is still pretty good whilst we await better news. Hold fast people, better times are coming!

That's not a rationale. That's an assertion with no rational justification provided. Do you even understand what the business is and what the addressable market is?

Thanks Tyche. However, I believe you might have confused me with others who were posting. Whilst I thought there was a serious risk of insolvency, my argument was always that there would be nothing for shareholders, which after all is what this BB is about, no. Who cares whether the Company survives if you're holding goes to zero?! As you have now admitted that there will be no return on the investment, you have come round to my way of thinking. I would say better later than never, but in reality, you, and other posters continued to disagree with me right down to zero, so unfortunately being late wasn't any better than never changing you mind (as you have done). Oh, well.

Kpatel - Nice to that you are still living in your fluffy world of of self-delusion, but it might be time to wake up now....;-)

Stock tends to lag as some income investors recycle elsewhere, but after a few weeks, this process is done and we're back to fundamentals. LGEN, MNG and Aviva all look like solid buys to me given low valuations, high yields, and fairly predictable revenues and profits. The recovery of the value style should provide nice tail wind here IMV.

Are we now moving back towards a 2019 scenario, which would equate to an eps of 36p, so the stock still looks reasonable value, though not spellbindingly cheap. Alternatively, 2019 actually wasn't a great year either as the previous management's chickens came home to roost. If we're on a path back to 2018, an eps of 93p, then this share will clearly have further to go!!
I think somewhere in between is more likely, say eps of 50p, and 10x would seem to me to be a reasonable valuation, so I think I'd be a seller at £5 absent any further news which suggests the 50p is too conservative.
