Laurenti - are you now suggesting that the £116mn profit figure doesn't exist. That's as daft as Know suggesting the 49mn loss doesn't exist. If you both put as much time into reading financial documents as you do arguing with each other, you'd be better off ;-)

Know - The 65m is the relevant number in terms of comparisons going forwards. It does seem that they have sold the one stable part of their business in ESS though!! Still, as the firm is priced to reflect a high probability of default, I think it's still a good place to be!

Actually, both of the figures quoted by both of you are correct. the 65mn profit is before 'adjusting items' and 49.5m loss is after. Which makes it a completely pointless argument.

In addition, I don't think it's clear what these 'adjusting items' are because I think the explanation in the document is explaining the fall in adj items since 2019 rather than explaining what they are in 2020.

...is that at 0.25x sales it is priced for a reasonable probability of going bust. The announcement today, whilst not shooting any lights out, will certainly give some confidence that they are not. Certainly not unreasonable for it to move to one-third of sales which would take it to the mid 60s. If this business really moves back to growth, there's no reason why it can't get back to 1x sales or above (It was on 5x sales mid 2015, but they have had to sell off a lot of the crown jewels since then)

Ya 37 - sell your entire holding immediately. It is clear from your posts that you have neither the skills or experience to risk your children's inheritance on an overleveraged binary stock such as Capita. A punt as part of a diversified portfolio - yes, fine, that's exactly what I'm doing. Betting the house and mortgage on it with no investment experience - you're utterly crazy!

Hi GS - thought provoking post as ever mate, and has certainly given me pause. I do think LGEN is fundamentally different/better in 3 ways:
- More focused and successful management team
- Exposure to the pension settlement market (I think Pru sold this to Aviva?) which is going to grow significantly in the next 5 to 10 years
- Better structured asset management business with the huge indexation assets, but also managing LDI mandates for pension schemes as they de-risk.
That said, the valuation and dividend difference is quite extreme, so definitely worth considering!!

Good thanks Dan - trust all is well with you? If by 'good work', you mean making good money in these markets through a sensible risk controlled and diverse portfolio, and helping out fellow investors with less experience, then I can confirm that this remains very much the case. Thanks for asking.

Agreed! £12 is my year end target.

Terrific numbers again for Q3, plus additional good news on tasty trade. Q4 will be very interesting as the comparison year-on-year will start to get harder. However, with the enlarged customer base, and market vol unlikely to dissipate anytime soon, I think IG can still grow from here. Put this in the context of a PE of 9x for this year, >5% yield which will grow, zero debt, I continue to be a very happy holder at these levels!

This Board is for investors in IGG, and the pros and cons should be on the outlook for the share price, not questions relaying to the use of it's platform. Stop being a tool on here, and just go and ask the IG helpdesk - I'm sure they'll help (clue's in the name). If you have something to say about the direction of the share price, backed up by disciplined thinking, then post on that.

...the stock actually consolidate, and indeed, increase further after a strong day before, and in a falling market. Feels like we might actually begin to get some proper traction in this share price now!

This is not a pure biotech play though is it. Last year. pharma sales were $30m - even applying (as somewhat optimistic) 20x gives you $600m.

So $227m sales up 10%, but looking for $100m extra from Oncology in 2021. Let's be really optimistic and say we get $400m next year, equivalent to £285m. This puts the stock on 11x next years' sales - so as I say, there's a lot in the price and we're going to need to see some properly good numbers/developments to shift this out of the trading range I think.
