Seems a bit extreme to be on that much as a courier. I am on the Hermes and Yodel sites and I can assure you they are not on anything like that at all. Not suggesting this claim is not true, it may well be, but he would seriously have to work some hours to be able to get 34K and I would imagine he would not have much of wither a social life or family life for that matter. Just done some rough maths and I may be wrong maths are never my strong point. To earn 34K over 52 weeks working 5 days a week at 99p a parcel he would have to deliver 134 parcels every single day without any holidays or sickness or vehicle breakdown.

Each to their own, it would be interesting to know if the said individual supports the Unions stance or believes that the employer is fair and their proposals are acceptable?

@Mike1974 The Hermes Tribunal case in the next couple of months will be very interesting indeed. If they lose the Tribunal it is an absolute game changer for Royal Mail

We don't need to compete against Royal Mail this industry belongs to us the workforce, Moya will be gone soon along no doubt with other senior managers. We want a fair share of the profits that is all we are asking for and fair workloads.

Why on earth do you keep going with the pension argument and the company not being able to afford it. We know that is the case and by the way this is absolutely nothing to do with the cessation of final salary pension as ours ended and changed in 2008. If It is some trite way of trying to tarnish our argument then it is not working, stick to the facts not what you assume. We have come up with a very sensible and affordable alternative pension solution, but you fail to mention this.

Puzzling thing to say given the profits to invest in new technology is off of the backs of workers. What they do risk is ridiculous workloads and potential redundancy, if that is not enough of a risk then I do not what is. Investors just lose money and as you know shares can go down as well as up. Privatisation simply does not work it creates monopolies such as the power industry and the rail industry all of whom have raised prices to ridiculous levels and there is no competition whatsoever, its all nonsense and doesn't work

1. Nom that is not what I am saying, I am saying profits need to be reinvested into the industry and that includes the employees of that industry. 2. No that's not what I am saying those profits belong to the industry which includes employees but not solely the employees. 3.As I have answered in the negative to the first two points then point 3 is no also. what I am saying is that the postal industry is a national institution which is now very much in danger of being completely asset stripped and broken up. That is what I am saying and those plans are simply not acceptable and yes I would rather bankrupt it than let the vultures destroy it because I do not believe that it belongs in the privatised zone it should never ever have been put into it it is shameful what is happening to the industry and I am glad the employees are fighting back

The problem with this country is the greed culture that comes with privatisation and workers who are not prepared to get off of their knees to do something about it. Well postal workers aint that type of worker and yes we would rather smash it up our way than let it be asset stripped carved up and sold off further. If that is what you call militancy then yeah we are militants and proud of it. I would rather be that than watch a national institution torn to shreds by an employer and shareholders who not give two hoots about the industry but are happy to skim all the profits, profits which should be going back into the industry not scavengers wallets.

On another subject, in the next couple of months I am not sure exactly of the date, Hermes will be appearing before an employment tribunal. The Tribunal will determine whether or not Hermes employees are just that, employees or self employed. Given the recent history of such claims, it is highly likely though not definite, nothing ever is in law, that the employees or union who have brought this claim will indeed be successful. If they are then this could be a game changer for Royal Mail and have knock on effects for the other courier companies who I am sure will be watching carefully

We seem to be finding a sort of consensus lets see how long that lasts. Yes it does come with risk all pension schemes do. You see our Final Pension Scheme ended in 2008 we have been out of a final salary for 9 years. Hence when you keep on about do we realise that such schemes are unaffordable, yeah we do but that is not what we are complaining about we are not in one or asking to be in one. As I mentioned when it was shown to us in only 2 of 20 years would we have lost out it is a good scheme much better than the garbage that is being peddled at the moment.

The Union's plan is based on a novel and completely new way of investing in the stock market. To go into in detail would take far too long so I am not going to do that. However for expediency it is based on buying stock low and selling high. it has been peer reviewed in the financial industry as being possibly the way to go from low yield return investments and would have paid more than we currently get in 18 of the last 20 years. That is a very concise way of explaining it
