Not "My" OUR TERMS there is subtle difference the our being the CWU and its membership not you not shareholders we will make it profitable but it will be on our terms

Its our industry it belongs to us not share holders and when the Labour Party gain power which they undoubtedly will it will be back under the control of the British Public as it always should be.

"you cannot keep having your hours cut just to satisfy a union...." You need to keep up i am afraid. Royal Mail agree that there needs to be a cut in hours as much as the CWU. Royal Mail are aware that there is no longer a pool of unemployed labour that they can call on to do this work. The turnover of new starters is the highest it has ever been there are much easier jobs with better pay out there than the ones Royal Mail offer and that happens to be a fact. You can make the job as hard as you want but people simply will not work in such an industry. As for pay we have earned every single penny of any pay rise we get and it will be backdated to April if there is any chance of a resolution we simply will not accept a lump sum payment. Your analogy with nurses is ridiculous we all know that nurses are abused by a Government who doesn't care less about them despite any pathetic plaudits which may emanate the Government know they will not take industrial action and they play on that. We will though if need be make no mistake about that

Outfoxed!! Are you for real? they have caved in on everything we have asked for as we knew they would. The ACAS talks which the CWU were forced into has backfired on Royal Mail big time, you seriously need to keep up.

@IS Ah yes! The anti-militants they have been time warped in from Victorian England who if their ideas and thinking were put into practice would have utterly destroyed our great industry instead of putting it on a sound footing to take on and beat the opposition. They seem to think that we want to see the demise of our industry when in fact nothing could be further from the truth as you are aware.

@IS If what we are hearing about the pension transfers into a firm agreement and it is clearly heading that way, what an amazing achievement by the CWU truly outstanding. You are correct on the SWW but it looks like they are looking for a flight path to 35 hours. Given what he said about the looking at the delivery model and parcels in particular i am not so sure it will end up with a delivery span which is overlong as we feared it might but i think this is going to be agreed as work in progress rather than a firm agreement because i think Royal Mail are worried about the ramifications of pushing the button too hard on this as they will simply not get people to do the work as we are seeing already. It could be a recruiting disaster i think. Ah yes the detractors who dislike unions and all they stand for and who think we should just sit back and take everything an employer gives us because most workers suffer in that way and so why shouldn't we. I wonder what they think about our union now? But yes i am very pleased with everything i am hearing

Well it looks very positive indeed on all aspects of our claim. Nothing as yet agreed or settled but the big surprise is that there seems to be an agreement on the pension issue which will give us a much better pension in retirement. Pay is just a big bonus although we have earned and fully deserve a decent rise i think this was the least of our issues well it was for me at least. That's the power of a Trade Union for you but the question is why didn't Royal Mail come to the table with this a year ago? Very pleased indeed so far!

Could it possibly be because the employee share option shares are available to sell on Friday? I doubt very much that there has been a leak on the report due out tomorrow from the Conciliator or it could just be that the stock market is up today, who knows?

Bottom of his list? You think so? Think about it this way, the CWU were one of the main supporters when he was running for leadership. He has spoken quite a few times at various meetings and our Annual Conference, i think you might want to rethink your comment. If change is on Royal Mails terms there put quite simply there will be no agreement and yeah we will be on strike. You mention that after 2 days a week max before the workers return. Well do you know anything about the 2010 dispute? If not i suggest you research it because we have a lot in our armoury. I have heard Christmas being mentioned as the big reason for Royal Mail wanting to delay an agreement. It doesn't really matter to us when it is, Christmas is our big earning period so we are well cashed up come any action after Christmas. Oh and by the way that tax credit you mentioned we will be having that for our pay rise.
