Mike the last time there was any National Ballot for industrial action prior to the dispute this year was 2010.

I think you will find it was one ballot and that led RM to the negotiating table something they were absolutely adamant that they were not going to contemplate. Great outcome only delayed the inevitable and we got everything we wanted and more besides, there is power in a union especially the CWU.

It will go through i am fairly certain of that. As for the Company and a potential culling exercise on areas that aren't sustainable...that course of action would result in the biggest national dispute that the Company had ever seen ...it wouldn't be an option for them it would be absolute financial suicide for everyone

Strange though as it has been on the news all day and this is a massive game changer for the Postal industry and puts the competition firmly in its place. Notwithstanding the Hermes Tribunal this month which will again be a game changer as Hermes will lose badly and might settle before it gets into court. The Gig economy poverty wages and outrageous working conditions are finally coming to an end and not before time

When we were shown the presentation on this at a national briefing in London it was explained to us in pretty much laymans terms as it is such a difficult subject. From what i grasped it sits somewhere close to the DB scheme and in good years can exceed that scheme. However we were shown how this would have all panned out over the last 20 years. What that showed is that for all bar two years which were when the economic downturn happened around 2010 it was in a very good position not always as good as the DB scheme but on the odd occasion excelling it. So i cannot go into detail on it as i at get it incorrect and i don't want to mislead anyone but it looked to me anyway as much better than what we were offered by a country mile.

Ah right well lets hope the deal is good all round it certainly very positive from Terry's last message to us. If all they are talking about is the wording then we are in a good place and from where we were last summer what an amazing outcome

Absolutely spot i could not agree more and hopefully a change of culture in deliveries once and for all. And you are correct from what they originally planned which was never going to happen without IA coming into play to where we are now its an absolute sea change its turned out much better than i ever imagined and we haven't lost a penny in pay through IA. So my strike fund will be going towards two fantastic days at the Cheltenham Festival in March which is now completely paid for, splendid
