Cobus Loots, CEO of Pan African Resources, on delivering sector-leading returns for shareholders. Watch the video here.
Morning all
It’s dull, warm and quiet outside and in. Lots to do but feeling tired and lazy, my ‘plans’ include a dog walk and trying to galvanise myself.
Rebought iag (too high – as usual should have waited)
Trading water this morning
Bon chance mes braves!
T - yep, sounds like absolutely the right thing to do.
Just been browsing the avacta board, hoping for facts and informed comment. Sparse on enlightenment, but lots of childish posturing and insult trading. Blummin' eck, who are some of these people?
N - very sorry to hear of you 'despairing.' I have made a 'few' unwise moves, and I too have a red pf, a very red pf. But these days I don't get particularly excited or fussed either way. Just utter a swear word or two and ponder the next steps. Maybe because last year (my first steps in share shenanigans) I had a baptism of fire, now I'm almost bomb proof. I figure what goes down will in time go up again, and vice versa. (give or take an intu, carillion etc) From your postings you have much more experience and knowledge than me so I'm certainly not telling granny or grandpa to suck eggs....
V - it also doesn't mention that if people already have savings with the BOS group (Halifax etc) they only get cover up to a total of £85K should that particular bank go bust and some of their HL cash is roosting there. (Just watching the banking shares sag)
Is it just me - or is this a boring day? So boring I'm cleaning a bbq.
Morning all - visiting RBB early on a glorious morning.
T - feel your frustration. Guess we'd all be happy if the health shares including V's X's shot up today.
Wondering what market reaction to 'freedom day' uncertainty / news might be. Can't move round here without someone trying to test you- and that's only a slight exaggeration.
Have a fun day.
Morning!
A day of watching travel and health I think.
T - not watching any tennis here - not especially interested and sunshine is a rarity and I feel 'wrong' inside when it's out :-) Just read Ruth Davidson piece about online and app betting on sport. I think it is shocking how it's normalised via advertising everywhere. In my opinion much more dangerous than sugary drinks.
n - didn't have a skinful, just a quencher. But well done on your alco abstention. Heart attack sounds scary, (hope you've recovered well) otherwise have you noticed benefits?
I'm running errands so will dip in. Like T I hope it's a good day for all.
T - yep - sold Thursday's iag and banked £60. Not a killing, but better than a poke in the eye.
I also sold pfc and bme, then re-bought them. This morning's cine and cey are waiting for another day.
Been watching V's X shares - strange goings on. Hopefully tomorrow V!
Travel shares are also behaving oddly - some taking a hit, others quite robust in the face of airline carbon permits/tax, holiday rules and testing uncertainty
Today I've been weeding, thinking my hedge might grow better if there was less competition. Thirsty work - fancy a beer anyone?
O - commiserations on your iWeb woes- sounds mind numbingly frustrating and useless. I looked at their trust pilot reviews - some are toe curling.
My 'moving' experience has been mixed. ig transfer last year was carp, and with no reason, a straightforward cash isa in, but nothing like you've experienced. Then a Barclays transfer out, (small privatisation share pot that they charged ludicrous fees for and should never have been with them) took forever and made me purple with frustration at their dismissive 'nowt to do with us' 'what's your problem?' attitude. HL Cash ISA transfer last year was slow but OK, but a small pension transfer this year expedited within days.
Bereavement, divorce and moving house reported to be the major health impact stressors.... your iWeb experience could add portfolio move to the list
Bonjour!
Rain here this morning - but not a deluge.
T - hope your feeling is wrong. I don't want a day that slides woefully. So far travel and leisure are holding up - which is perplexing me as usual.
I think I've made my plays for the day, bought pfc, bme, cey and cine hoping for a little profit on each before the day end.... a frisson of penny arcade.
Hope everyone has an entertaining day.
Morning all - sunny and bright again - fantastic weather is all part of the conspiracy....no point in going to Portugal :-)
n - I think a lot of the travel slump happened yesterday afternoon when info leaked - but hoping for a touch of volatility today. Already made my 'mistakes' - sold some tui and bought some IAG
T - arb arghhh..... I'm semi-confident it'll sort itself out next week
Not sure if betfred will be freaky or fine today
Have fun everyone
Market is having a dose of pessimism. Time to do something else...perhaps a trip out for fish, blood and bone.
V - that's a bummer, to make you feel better - this morning on bme could have had £100 now I have minus £47. boo hoo.
