Cobus Loots, CEO of Pan African Resources, on delivering sector-leading returns for shareholders. Watch the video here.
V – everything is in play! It’s just that it’s not winning much at the moment. I have little spare cash but am trading my usuals (pfc, cwr, cpi, tui) and the odd maverick, all for small profits.
But as a whole – all is down. I guess I need to be more Treacle and concentrate on increasing the numbers of shares I have.
N – no traditional? Are we talking breakfast here…in which case you need something substantial to power you through the mending of fences.
Morning - Lovely clear bright day – but v cold.
T – I noticed ccl down again – I have ‘several’ - wondering whether it’s going to repeat last year’s pattern……but at the moment there is no pattern :- )
Here’s to what the day brings - buena suerte a todos
N - my 'spies' told me the local Vue cinema was very quiet on Saturday night and that the new Bond was sumptuous fun but had a feeble storyline and had been 'woke-cleansed' of anything un-pc. I'll be interested to hear what you thought.
Afternoon all
I'm feeling pessimistic or is it anxious...wondering whether this rally will last the day, or whether it is just a ride up to the next crest of the rollercoaster.
The trading methods stories make me think. Always good to reconsider your approach (to anything) every now and then.
T - as I think you suspected I've still not recovered from my night out. Knackered!
Kettle on and mince pie - it is December after all
V - would need a coach party to pull up outside to eat the freezer contents - generator is an idea we've been playing with for years. (since someone nicked the last one)
T - Not been a bad day (as long as I don’t look at the big picture) Pfc has paid for my forthcoming night out
… off to Manc arena to see The Offspring and The Hives. Have a good evening everyone.
Phew - Things are heading upwards. US looking positive (but we know that might change over the next hour.)
T – Fingers crossed for your asc.
Thankfully our power is on and seems stable so counting my blessings. It was off for so long that one by one all my electronics ran out of charge and the freezer contents started to melt! Quite enjoyed being without phones, internet, and tv, but would have liked some radio or music after dark.
Bonjour from winter wonderland.
Actually not so wonderful ...we were without electricity throughout the weekend thanks to storm Arwen's activities on the power lines.
It's still deep and crisp.
Hope this week on the markets is happier for us all than last
Thanks for the commiserations T (Think we probably all need some today tee hee)
Interesting that WHO are putting some (sensible) perspective on the new variant. Our 'strong reaction' probably linked with the government's need to get a headline on something other than sleaze and incompetence
V – I’m not going to be getting there on my expensive ncyt. Sold it Wednesday on a ‘spike’ expecting it to fall back. Ooops. I’d be licking the wounds but wouldn’t know where to start today….severe blood loss and little prospect of a transfusion.
Ho hum
Morning T - morning all
I think underneath the bed might be a sensible option. (Although not like Madonna)
Think we'll see below 7000 on the footsie again today.
I've lit the fire and will watch and drink tea.
For those brave enough venture.....Be careful out there
O - thanks for the reminder about thanksgiving. (& your thought provoking musings of course)
As well as missing the sheer bulk of US activity we will be without the malevolent sprites attacking parts of the market for their own disproportionate gain….wonder if that’s why MCRO moved up this morning and why IAG is comparatively stable today? (Is that conspiracy theory or paranoia or blind searching for any old explanation?)
I think T asked if the US were back tomorrow – anyone know?
There’ll be no turkey here today. Just roasting some veg for soup or pasta sauce later.
Evening
Aside from the ‘thrill’ of seeing pf value slide again (and licking my ao wounds) I found today soo boring I livened it up by selling some expensive IAG aiming to buy it back a little cheaper. Fairly clumsy, but bingo! Using NB’s analogy it will keep me in shopping for a week. (Lidl not Fortnums)
Walked dog twice and ate mince pies.
Just noticed Harland and Wolf's fall. Hope no one was seriously battered today.
Good to see you S
Was thinking of you the other day when I made a version of your apple cake. I've noticed nearly all contributions are welcome here, including recipes, musings on modern manners, sport, the weather etc. so please feel free......
Morning - bright and chilly here too...still drinking tea and thinking about moving. Very lazy.
I watched hoc first thing but I missed fdev and had a look following your post T. First thought ......those with mining/exploration shares on a hair trigger reacting to bad news. Then I realised Frontier development were not mining the wild frontiers but software developers. Every day I learn something new!
My trade for the day - selling rsw bought on Friday for 1%. Small beer ...would like them back later.
Have a good day all.
T – can’t you just book your own booster? That's what I did...went on the website and booked.
Been looking at the European covid figures (courtesy Times -Our world in data) Very interesting. All thru’ the summer the UK was the (Covid) sick man of Europe bobbing along c500 people per million reported cases. Back then Belgium, Austria, Croatia and Slovakia, Hungary and Germany had hardly any cases - while France and Spain had sizeable summer bulges that reached our levels. (Caused by travel and tourism or due to tourism related testing?) But now confirmed infections in those previously low covid northern countries are really taking off, but figures remain very low in Spain, France and Italy.
Wonder why? Maybe ...higher levels or community immunity via infections or vax? or is it mask wearing? (still enforced in Spain, and France, don’t know whether masks are mandated in Italy)
A pal is off to Spain tomorrow…courtesy a £5 Ryanair flight…. Temperature in Alicante is 18C....sounds attractive to me.
T - I've had my 3rd vax - also have my covid pass. (I'd rather have a concessionary bus pass)
This travel rout seems a bizarre and hysterical reaction to old 'news' but that's the markets for you.
I was looking at the reported covid numbers - recall Spain has figures well below the UK. ....must go check. Maybe I got it wrong.
OCDO boosted by news M&S might be buying more Ocado retail - anyone tempted?
