Very odd behaviour today. Every time the SP hit 500 it failed to tick above that figure. From about 12.42 Kept testing this level all afternoon. Can only assume that there was selling at this level which kept the SP down ? Any thoughts ?

Hi zebarne I think the quoted figures are actually incorrect. It is less than 4500 . This article says more than 2000 to be balloted which I think is closer to the actual figure as a large percentage of the MF crew are not in the union. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/nov/11/british-airways-cabin-crew-vote-industrial-action-heathrow-wages Add to this that circa 69% vote yes and you are looking at more like 1400 . How many of them will actually strike ? and BA have said it will not impact services , so I do not expect it to have a major impact. We'll find out tomorrow of course.

I hear that the offer from IAG/BA of another £50 per month to the MF crews has been rejected. I am not sure what UNITE are now proposing but there are also negotiations underway for the much larger WW crew I understand. I think the impact will be even less. The reported MF figures of 4500 are incorrect and it is more like 2500 - 3000. apparently only some 1500 or so voted and only circa 1200 voted to strike , so minimal numbers and IAG will easily be able to cover the operation, I would imagine.

Just working on the basis that Bad news for virgin could be positive mews for IAG ? No other logic but that zebarne. Mondays are generally down until the market fins it's direction. Would be good to see it maintain it's direction though. anything above 460 would be good.

Interesting post Wolferlaf The driver here for Walsh and Cruz is short term returns. Walsh will not stay much longer and is looking for an exit plan, potentially Qatar. One thing BA / IAG are good at is creating division and it has worked for them . Sadly, the Unions are not clever enough to have evolved into a smarter collective but are acting in just the same way as a business. All they are interested in is subscriptions, income and self reward, with little outgoing and cost. In agree with you that until the IAG workforce act together they will achieve little , which , I am afraid to say , will only be to the benefit of IAG's managers and Directors, with a latent benefit to shareholders, eventually. During the interim, I am waiting for the SP to recover to pre-brexit levels.
