I agree about the witholding tax . I have been complaining about it for years, as I hold IAG wiwth HL and they do not operate a process for reclaiming the tax.

As for IAG being British.......I am afraid BA stopped being British when Walsh transgerred it to Spain.

I still don't understand why he did it and why BA is still a Spanish company ???

Redemption flights I booked to JNB returing from CPT in club which requred 180K avios now need 360K Avios.

They have very clearly doubled the amount of avios needed for a large number of redemption flights.

Just checked BA to syd in club 31 august to 11 sept 680000 avios and £1550. and this isn't even FC.

How you managed to get FC redemotions for four people at 340K avios I have no idea, unless it is only available to GGL customers ?

Just check redemption tickets that requireyou to be redeem using avios. The amount of avios needed has now doubled for flights, which a few months ago would have used circa 180K Avios, instead of the now needed 360K avios.

As a result of this 'doubling' the value of avios must have halved, or the price of tickets has also doubled , which I don't think is the case ?

So, BA Have just doubled the amount of avios needed for flights .

FLights that earlier this year needed 180K Avios now need 400K

difficult to see how customers will be able to generate enough avios now to be able to redeem against upgrade vouchers, 2-4-1 etc etc

By doubling the avios needed for a flight, BA has reduced their value by 50%.

So avios used to be worth circa 1p per avios now only 0.5p , as you need twice as much to pay for the same flight !

Maybe he will give him another painting !

If analysts were objective when assesing a business, they would logically reach similar conclusions .

The fact that they don't and some are wildly differing, demonstrates that they only have their own interests at the forfront of what they publish.

Departures at all airports have resumed - air traffic authority

NATS - the UK's air traffic authority - has shared another update.

"Departures at all airports have resumed and we are working with affected airlines and airports to clear the backlog safely," the body said.

"We apologise to everyone affected by this issue."

Looks like they guessed right regarding the latest economy stats.

It will be interesting to hear what HL say but I suspect they will hide behind the fact that shares are held in nominee accounts HL don't deal with the reclaim.

It seems to me that there is no justification for spain to impose the witholding tax in any event.

It is of course discriminatory as it only applies to non spanish shareholders.

Why can't UK shareholders ( or their brokers ) claim the tax back , even if held in nominee accounts ?

It's a valid question but they have to determine if we are UK shareholders to deduct the witholding tax .

IF the tax can't be reclaimed because the shares are in nominee accounts, how can the tax be deducted in the first place ?

I have been asking for years on this BB if anyone has managed to claim back the withholding tax but not heard from anyone .
