The only way rates are going to come down, is when companies stop increasing their product prices.
Unfortunately, UK GOV has decided the only way this is going to happen , is to stop people spending on anything, even if this means crashing the housing market. This will of course have the added benefit for GOV of making more property available for those who cannot afford it !!!! Only then, will corporates be forced to reduce their product pricing , with the effect of reducing inflation.
Of course, in the interim, we are all being told not to ask employers for more money, by those who are paid far too much and to whom the cost of living crisis has little or no impact.

Agreed. In fact, I saw no life , no excitement or charisma in those who are running IAG.
Do you beleive that any of these people get up in the morning excited about running one of the largest airline groups in the world ?
Frankly, I saw no evidence of it . They appear to be professional Directors , rather than the entrepreneurial vision that is needed to run IAG.
About time they were all replaced
Just watched the AGM.
Have to say what an appallingly bad representation of IAG this BoD make.
Boring, uninformative and provided almost no indication of the growth in future years.
Heavily weighted in favour of Spanish investment and it now seems as though BA has little place in this Group.
I am more and more convinced that BA should 'go it alone' but the question is how ?
The resolutions have been passed by an incredibly small number of Investors.
The resolutions appear to be all about issuing new shares for directors bonuses, buying back existing shares and approving the potential for a 50% rights Issue !
I can see no point in the constant buy backs, when at the same time IAG is creating new shares for Directors.
From the article...
"The United Kingdom's flag carrier airline is being credited $550,000 (£438,793) toward the penalty because in 2020 and 2021 it paid more than $40m in refunds to customers with non-refundable tickets"

BA Pilots are historically VERY well paid and underworked BUT the junior pilots think they are hard done by.
They are refusing to do overtime and work weekends atm , which I am told is causing some issues.
I have no doubt, that negotiations will be protracted but historically , the pilots always get what they want .
Hopefully they have more sense than to disrupt a debt laden, recovering business but I suspect not.

The only positive here, is that BARC has started the buy backs, which should offer some level of support.
interest rates should be substantially lower by the end of the year and the 4% - 5% savings returns will be quickly removed sooner rather than later.
