RE: Short Term11 Sep 2023 15:16
Nobody enjoys seeing a material drop in the paper value of their p/f, but if you are going to manage your own shares, then you simply have to have a plan and execute it.
You have to, as much as possible, put aside emotion and be disciplined. Stick to whatever strategy you decide upon. Change it when you deem events mean a change is necessary. Eg how you could successfully trade in mid 2020 would not have worked by late 2021. Speaking from experience. And at some point, maybe late 2024 or so, another strategy change may be essential, or at least highly advisable.
I agree, joseywales. Throw in the historical under-performance of the indices in the month of September and all the macro stuff, and IMO this is not a market for buy and hold, or going all in with whatever cash allocation you have for shares.
But, as always, to each their own. We are all looking to achieve the same goals.
And not one of us posting on this chat board, bull or bear, will have any material impact on the SP performance whatsoever.
And if we have already seen the lows here, and only rise back up to a quid and beyond without any further pull backs (unlikely IMO, but who knows), then that will be fine by me also. GLA.
