IMO Consuela, you are choosing to overlook the macro picture.

You may still be proved right, time alone will tell, of course, but you were certain that IM was not going to win the judicial review. Which I think I am right in saying you have failed to acknowledge was wrong on your part. Apologies if this statement is wrong.

The UK has chosen a path which means that pragmatism (to put it mildly) is now non-negotiable.

As a result of decades of appalling and complacent cross-party political mismanagement, we are now extremely vulnerable. Especially in matters of energy security. This is why, IMO, we are going to see some decisions that will belatedly rectify, or try to rectify, the above unforgivable failures.

Some people may not like it, but I simply refuse to accept that 99.9% of people actually appreciate what inaction on this front will mean for their everyday lives. If they did, IMO 99.99% would support far more 'drastic' steps than just harnessing the full potential of IM.

Anyway, I am unlikely to convince you and I respect your choice to disagree on the merits of such projects, but I felt it worth adding to the conversation anyway. GLA.

Yeah, a mixed report card. Disappointed to see bottom of guidance mentioned, (I had hoped for a little better than that) but some positives at the same time. I am undecided personally if the strategy is working or not. Too early to tell IMO. And this is not my area of expertise either, so less qualified than some of the other posters here to this end.

Ultimately, I do not think this merits being at the top of the shorter's list, based on this update though, so I agree with those posters who think a flat day here is unlikely.

Glad to be underweight at the time of print. If we get a sell off early doors, I have some dry powder.

If shorts close quickly, I will be glad to have left some in the pot leading up to today! GLA.

I hope it was clear that I was not attempting to insinuate anything. Only giving an outline to TR of one of the potential benefits to listed entities that buy backs can provide, based on my knowledge.

Also a good point made by the other poster that it is also useful for (more than) offsetting the 'new' shares that are periodically issued to various staff within a business. Although I do not think this is ever a driver for a buy back decision, especially not in the case of a large cap.

Reducing shares (artificially, some might say) can boost EPS performance.

Which is often one metric that determines director remuneration.

Not saying that this is why the BOD here are doing buy backs, but it is fair to say that this is a consideration that some leadership teams of some listed entities have in mind (at least in part) when it comes to taking such steps. GLA.

Good luck to you Dallo, and other holders. I have no doubt that you would make a fine CEO here, as long as you managed to get full control and get rid of some of the dead wood.

I will keep a watch on developments here, even though I am now fully out. Depending on how things go, I may take a view to return, even though it might naturally be at a higher SP.

A new CEO is a given of course. Getting a strong one is vital. Not somebody who is going to come in and look to make radical changes to what is a fundamentally strong, cash machine business.

I want to see the new CEO focus on strict cost controls. Reducing costs. No more M&A activity. At least not in this current climate. Build an even healthier balance sheet. Good enough a strategy for the likes of Berkshire Hathaway, certainly good enough for us.

No response so far. We can only hope that there is a positive reason for that. That word again, hope. Some interesting trades recently though, so who knows?

The rate pause might mean the markets are starting to price in higher for longer inflation. Which may have a material impact on those companies which are sensitive to already high inflation. Such as this one, for example.

Or maybe not, just one possible scenario. Regardless, I remain a holder here. Until circa 80p or so anyway, then will take a view. And will collect the dividend while I wait. GLA.

I agree, although am not going to buy more unless we get MDA over the line, or see some hefty inside buying while we wait. Ideally some of the other directors this time. GLA.

Defending your opinion and even firmly disagreeing with another POV is absolutely fine.

It is the bedrock of these forums, after all.

My understanding is they tend to 'pay' through worse buy and sell prices. I think one of the similar US types also sold customer data as a further method of extracting profit from providing no trading fees.

But I cannot remember the specifics now, so do not quote me on that, as I may be mistaken! I have no idea whether similar would apply this side of the Pond.

Regardless, I too am more interested in the service provision. And the more competitive buy and sell prices. Which add up quite quickly.

I guess as long as they are making more than they lose, then they may not care. That is the goal we all share, regardless of the platform we use :)

Because, IMO, IG is a far superior platform to those you mention. Again IMO, serious traders are less likely to use them versus the likes of IG. Deep pocket money, not the ever diminishing pool of small retail gamblers/traders that flourished during the Covid meme phase.

Without losing sight of the maxim of the proof in the pudding being in the eating etc, IMO, JW consistently demonstrates a focus and a work ethic that inspires confidence that he is going to deliver for shareholders.

IMO, he gives every impression of someone who has the bit between his teeth. Not a lifestyle director, as so many AIM CEO's are, IMO.

He wants to be successful. He knows what he needs to do to make this happen. I like that attitude. I like it a lot.
