RE: Inventories10 Jan 2024 20:38
Oh, I completely agree, hence my comment about 'no company-specific news'. The thing is, if we finally get confirmation of a recession (where the powers that be can no longer divert attention from the realities of it) and all that goes with that part of the cycle, then this sector will get hit hard. What are we now? PE of 10 or so I think? It absolutely can go lower than this.
And it will do, along with a whole lot of others tomorrow, if the US CPI print comes in hot.
But I think this company will come out the other side, or at least get taken out at a price higher than the SP today. That is my rationale for buying some around 117p or so, and based on what I think is a reasonable bear case scenario for this name.
The miss was not a profit warning to my mind. Sure, it never looks good to the market, and I stand by my comments about lack of inside buying too, but I am pretty relaxed at the time of print.
For me, this is a medium term planned trade, but one that I am happy to potentially hold for longer (subject to the obvious caveats).
And if the inflation data pleases the market, then I can see this returning to around 135p in a flash and back to circa 150p before the Spring perhaps. That is my bullish case scenario.
No way am I going to try and look even 12 months - let alone 15 years! - into the future though.
I do not use level 3, but happy to take your word for it.
I would rather a quick return to 150p than the chance to add at those lower prices, FWIW :)
