RE: Barclays shares drop below downtrend again15 Jan 2024 22:45
UK inflation data (and PPI data) this Wednesday. CPI forecast is for 3.8% (if memory serves correct).
Based on what we saw across the Pond, perhaps a small miss on the former and a small 'win' on the latter?
Taking a view on AB's recent comments, I would have thought a CPI miss is highly probable. As long as it is 'only' a small miss, then IMO the markets will have already priced this in. So perhaps a 'nothing burger' as our transatlantic friends might say.
As for BARC, well, so many own goals here, that when the next update comes, unless it is very strong, I am inclined to see a further fall in the SP.
Looking at the US banks, even the 'blessed' one (JPM)...trussed up by exposure to US Treasuries, among other things...I am comfortable to be watching from the sidelines right now.
But if this comment ages badly, I will be the first to post my congratulations to holders. I am wrong many, many times, so this could be an amazing buy signal :) GLA.
