I didn't read the article, so they say 15 cycles shows a positive result. 40 cycles won't affect this, you'll still see it at 15. Anything around the 40 mark is probably negative.===========================

No expert here but I read something different in the article.
They say a test with less cycle would be less sensitive, therefore able to detect only high load virus in sample (if that is the right terminology)
Why this is important is because it appear that low load of infection isn't easily transmittable if at all (and about this there could be still some research to prove it 100%)
But it seams that consensus is now diverging on probabilities, in assessing how covid 19 is affecting us.
The main point I take out from the article, is the fact that by testing with a low sensitivity test, a second test would be needed after maybe 1 week, to confirm that the level of "low infection" is still the same. So in short with this kind of test nobody is sure if a negative could become a positive at a later date....
As I suggested before Abbott test in my opinion, has been orchestrated mainly with the aim to reopening the economy for political reasons.

I would guess that more fluorescence intensity more positive result.
Is likely that Ncyt can re-manufacture its test quickly to decrease its specificity.

On another note yesterday I was watching an interview with Bill Gate. The guy seems to know a lot about viruses and vaccines, almost too much.
Sometime I wonder if we powerless people are guinea pigs, for the madness of those that have decided already what is the future of humanity.

I don't know allah I like to spend my time reasoning on facts and events, not on conjecture. Maybe I am overestimating my ability to understand future events, maybe is the opposite.. meaning that some people underestimate their ability to understand future events. We will never know i suppose, one fact is for sure and that is that if we start our reasoning from fake news anything is possible. I am not accusing anyone here and sorry to ruin the party, is just that yesterday Abbott with its test kit seems to have destroy Ncyt future, today apparently we have won a government contract and Tuesday sp will rocket and in the end noting much will change. Anyway we all take responsibility for out action, mine is to keep login on this board and read the posts in it, some of which though I found quite useful, often are the one that don't talk about Ncyt.

I like to point out that as you imply, everyone here is entitle of an opinion. Mine...in short is that if a contract has been won or not, is a fact beyond our control. Just imagine how much time people are wasting in useless research, and how painful is when those hopes are disillusioned. If you were to do some research it should have been done before investing not after. In my opinion with Ncyt the game changer will be on US market, they clearly stated that with company rns. If any fake new are to be posted on this board, they should be following a bit more the company strategies...just to be more credible.
Lots of thing are happening around the world right now, some are also affecting directly or indirectly Ncyt. It would be fantastic if people could come to this board, able to have some kind of enriching intellectual exchange and be able to take away, a bit more information to nourish the brain, rather than read about twitter posts. ...I don't know probably is just me, but there is a little voice in my brain that keeps coming back telling me, that something is going on with covid 19 story.
The factor that is joining most of all the dots together, is how then and again I keep looking at many biopharmaceutical companies graphs, and realize how depress was many of these companies share price prior to covid event. Even Ncyt sp goes from 65p in 2019 to 6.5p prior to covid and ncyt is not a biopharma company per se.
But have a look at many other vaccine developers and you'll realize that this dramatic drop in share price is a commune thing.
The pharmaceutical has its own importance in many investment funds balance sheet, and it employs many people around the world. Nowadays we are used to see financial intervention from governments around the world, to prop up market. Quantitative easing and junk bond purchases are all designed to keep the many stock indexes keep rising. But unless we don't get helicopter money, this for of intervention doesn't help GDP and growth.
Is covid a new creation of wealth? Beside refinancing an important sector of the economy that recently was left behind, the lock down and consequences of a pandemic have legitimate the use of helicopter money, without putting under the spot light the many fallacy of financial systems, interest rate and all crap.
To conclude, it looks like now the Trump administration is focusing the current Republican re-elections on China, Trying to revive nationalistic sentiments against the publics enemy....You can see really how much in US they care about publics heath, if you take a look how they spend the money in trying to solve this problem. Abbott test kit is a fancy marketing tool almost worthless and yet they are ready to waste $750 mill in an instant.
Anyway surely all fancy conspiracy theories, but if next time you like to predict when next pandemic will come, maybe could be wise to have a look at the many biopharmaceuticals share price.

Yes right Avct sp in 2018/2019 was around 20/25p , take away 10/15% of their market cap and and you still get a company worth 350 mil with no product no revenue in a very crowded market.
It is true that the cancer market is worth billions, but that is if you have a product that has passed all the clinical trials and is approved. I suspect previous marker cap valuation for avct was based on expectation that some of their effimer technology drug would have made it to the market, looking at the sp then some news in 2017 must have disillusioned the market and the shares start to tumble for never recover.

I read that a test detect IgA and IgM, whereas IgA shows at early stage of the infection and IgM shows later on and possibly stay last longer.
Some tests are able to detect only one or the other, is this the difference between PCR and NPT?

It looks like there is market for both tests Appott and Ncyt. Although I doubt Abbott test would have had a future, if wasn't for Trump need to be re-elected. This is a political maneuver at best without any conspiracy theory on haw many people on the administration friends and Co. had a slice of the 750 millions $ cake. Good show for the Republican convention though..

To show a person does not have that virus does not need a PCR but needs a near patient test. I have banged on about specificity and sensitivity and been derided for my input.

Wrong a person need either one or the other, and beside that it seems to me that ncyt test can be done also as NPT.
Is not that people are tested to find out is they don't have the virus, people ate tested to find out if they have or not have the virus, hence the importance of having the most accurate test possible. I understand that a 100% spec. and 100% sens. test doesn't exist , but I can't see this been a good reason to dictate governments policies to lower the standards.
I agree that Appott test has some strong marketing points like the app and the price, possibly are points that could be sold out to the masses to adopt a more relaxed test approach by some governments. But I am sure this will come out under the spotlight buy the media....so possibly something to think about before endorsing Abbott test kit..
