But the most encouraging thing in the fight against this pandemic, is that it seems we have everything under control, tests, vaccines, the policies....all sorted mate.
What a mess. I am starting to believe that drinking beach after all might just work.
Did you ear Boris claiming that airport tests is accurate only in 7% of cases?
Right!!
Meanwhile the virus is back as infectious as before. My take is that because this virus mutate very slow, is unlikely that will become less infectious any time sooner....
But economies have to reopen, schools have to restart ; are the governments around the world abandoning the idea of testing, track and tracing and even wearing masks? Fore the only intelligent thing we should have done from the begin, is to protect the elderly and vulnerable...Yes we didn't know this new virus, we needed time to study and understand it, so they said those too worry to lose their job and reputation.
But is not by keep asking the wrong questions that we can solve these problems. We use a trial and error approach most of the times. I was reading a scientific paper on virus attenuation (the process to make a virus less armful to be used as vaccine). Well guess what ? Sometime it works, sometime is worst and the vaccine become life threatening.
This scientific paper was an abstract trying to asses and understand, why the virus mutate when attenuated, in order to make safer vaccines .
All very well! legitimate question, fantastic approach. If we find why and how the virus attenuate we can make a better vaccine. Only problem was that to find the answer, the researcher was going over and over again, analyzing the processes previously used to attenuate the virus.
A paradox is like when tossing a coin and trying to control the outcome, we were trying to understand why there is a 50/50 chance in tossing a coin.
With testing we had the same approach, we introduced testing at the begin of the pandemic, without planning how to use the data. The incompetence of WHO in declaring that to fight the pandemic you need to TEST, TEST AND TEST is astonishing. The story goes that if you don't want to catch covid19 you have to isolate, tests will only tell you at best if you have it or not.
In the end same as with cold or flu, looks like covid will circulate freely among us. How quickly this will happen depends on many variables the most important of all been, the need for economies to function and for government debt to be repaid.
No doubt this pandemic has affected political dynamics and polarized even more the masses. One positive take away out of this, is that it seems covid is doing a better job that Trump and the likes..
just wander what we could achieve if we were pulling all in the same direction....but to reach this goal unfortunately we need to find the answer somewhere else and often inside our selves.
Is no coincidence if some of us deep down and openly, think that after all, society deserve this pandemic
