I can't see any way this deal won't go through now, so have used all my family's available ISA cash to top up our holdings at c. 647p per share incl. dealing costs & PTM levies.

At an exit price of 650p, that gives a 3p gain per share or 0.46% "interest" (3/647). Now the expected effective date is just two weeks away on 14th August, that's an annualised "interest" rate of around 12% (0.46% x 26).

Sure, there's a minimal risk something could still get in the way. But I'm prepared to take that risk in return for the likely short term gain.

At least this time, it's linked to foregone salary. And can't be vested until 2026. So presumably they don't see IQE becoming insolvent this year at least.

Consensus here is that DM generally did a good job at exploration stage, albeit with mixed communication skills.

I greatly admire him for overcoming a speech impediment to get where he has. Kudos for that!

However, he was prone to letting over-enthusiasm get the better of him and that dented some investors' confidence - at least temporarily (mine included).

So all in all a good egg. But it doesn't always pay to be sunny side up!

The SP’s reaction to the next RNS depends entirely on what that RNS says.

If it’s one of Tim’s typical “still working on it, but a deal’s imminent, nudgy nudgy, fudgy fudgy” nonsense updates, the SP will plummet. If it just announces progress on the patent, the SP’s response will be muted at best. Tim promised a breakthrough deal in 2025. Anything less and the SP will be severely punished.

A: Over a decade of poor leadership (notably CEOs). Plus woefully inadequate gross margin, coupled with nose-bleed territory fixed costs & overheads.

Sure, but we're talking about taxes here which are a fixed %, rather than costs which can be variable.

If those tax rates in my previous post are correct, then what I said previously about deducting roughly $1m per $4m revenue generated isn't too far off.

OK. I'm no US tax expert, but it appears there's a flat federal rate of 21% and a local state rate - 6.75% in Montana's case.

For all I know, there may be certain R&D/other costs you can offset against these.
