Brighty1 - agreed there has been plenty of good news recently & the share price has held up reasonably in a very volatile market (particularly the tech sector). However, nice though it would be, unfortunately I don't share your optimism of "a £1+ share price next year". IQE has been loss making for the past 3 years, hasn't exceeded £178.02M sales in the past 5 years, yet is currently capitalised at around £338M. If the share price went north of £1, its mcap would be over £800M. IMHO that's hardly likely within the next 12 months - despite promising changes under Americo - given the dismal starting point he inherited.

Dontshootme - always dangerous to recommend an investment without knowing the other person's circumstances - e.g. age, risk profile, investments already held etc. That said, there's a lot of gloom & doom baked into markets generally at the moment. With good reason you might say! But with hindsight it's often when everyone's on a bit of a doom loop that the buying opportunities arise. So I'd say IF you can afford to lose what you invest, drip feeding into SMT now (when the share price has already halved from its 2021 peak) might look a smart decision in 3-5 years' time. That's not to say the share price won't go lower at some point during this time. Possibly MUCH lower. But I suspect over a 3-5 year horizon, any shorter term volatility could largely be ironed out. This is only my personal opinion though and others may strongly disagree, as we're basically all just guessing!

Makes sense. At age 70+ I'd think it wise to be concentrating more on dividend/interest income rather than potential capital gains. Who knows, within the next year you may well be able to secure 6%-7% p.a. in a safe 3 to 5 year fixed rate bond.

I second that. Never good when an investment goes belly up, so I'm sorry for you too. The only reason I mentioned it is that maidit308 always tends to see a positive future for IMM. As a fellow IMM holder, I hope he's right. But unfortunately he's not infallible, as the small ;position he took in Made yesterday amply demonstrates.

Jenforluck - I suspect you're right. But until we get an RNS, nobody (Frits included) knows for sure.

maidit308 - put simply, why do you think IMM’s share price plummeted the morning that RNS came out with the FDA’s response? There’s only one possible explanation. And that is that rational investors viewed it as a significant setback. At best, it lengthens the time to commercialisation. At worst, it causes Avion etc to pull the plug completely, writing off their entire investment to date. If you can’t see that, you really are living in a parallel universe IMHO.

Who knows. But one thing I do know is that I wouldn’t base any long term investment decision on one day’s movement in US markets.

oleric - 1) It's important to remember that - barring the most recent Opti holders - most will also own "free" shares in PBX. So whilst Opti's share price has certainly been poor in recent years, you have to factor in the PBX "dividend". 2) I wouldn't write off Sweetbiotix just yet. Sometimes this type of spin off comes to the fore just as everyone's given up on them. But you make a very valid point about the level of marketing budget (& staffing) needed to ensure products like these remain front of mind. Arguably, Opti has been too slow & cautious in taking advantage of its first mover advantage (assuming it ever had one). Shame - in retrospect - that it didn't sell more of its SBTX holding when the share price was hovering around 70p. There again, hindsight's a wonderful thing. And who knows, Skin may yet prove to be an outstanding investment longer term. It's already paid Opti back several times over, thus avoiding the need for any dilutive fundraises/placings.

veteran10 - agreed. All I'm saying is that some posters present opinions as facts. And that's what I try to counter by offering a bit of balance. Nothing more sinister!

cm22 - I presume you were addressing your comments at me - in which case I assure you I don't enjoy being provocative for the sake of it. I've better things to do frankly. The only reason I keep coming back to this is because others keep making totally subjective claims about how cheap TEK shares are currently. They might be right. Nobody knows. But the problem is they've a tendency to voice these opinions as though they were facts. And they're not. So it's dangerous. In my book, the "fair value" of any business is what the market consensus currently prices it at. Sure, the market can often get things wrong in the long term. And I suspect it will in terms of TEK's eventual value. But right now, it says TEK's shares are worth 18p to sell, 19p to buy. And unless you can point to an alternative market we can trade on, that's all they're worth right now.

baf3 - sorry, but I find no logic at all in your claim "very interesting when a supposed holder doesn't believe their investment is cheap. Surely we all hold because we believe it is cheap." People buy things all the time only to find they could have got it far cheaper. If you buy a car, then see an identical one cheaper on another dealer's forecourt, do you instantly sell it? Of course not.

trustedinvestor - it's NOT the share I'm uncomfortable with (despite currently nursing a loss). It's the unsubstantiated claims from certain rampers, which I believe could be dangerous to uninitiated investors.

dast5000 - Not sure why you struggled to buy. I just tried placing a test order for £3K worth via Halifax and it would have gone through straight away, had I wanted to buy at 3.64p a share. But I didn't, as IMHO this is still a binary bet until we know if IMM's backers are willing to proceed, given the FDA's additional constraints.

Seamanp911 & TopCatz - I'm not a glass half empty person. But I DO get sick of posts such as "Got another £5k worth. Cheap as chips. Onwards and upwards" when there's no real substance to back it up. Sure, TEK's share price has risen over the past few days. But that's against a backdrop of rising markets generally & a significant drop in TEK's share price prior to then. The SP is still pretty near its 12 month low. As I said previously, I continue to be a holder and have no intention of selling out currently. But equally, I have no intention of adding (however low others may view the current share price). Why? Because I view TEK as risky, given the current global backdrop & tech shares generally remaining out of favour (a trend which I believe will persist into H1 2023 at least).
