Ilovesushi - suggest you stop spouting speculative nonsense. For that is all it is.

For most investors, it's more relevant to look at IMM's share price performance over the past few years, not just today's in isolation.

laallee - fair enough. I wasn't trying to be argumentative, so apologies if it came across as confrontational. I was simply pointing out that a fivefold+ share price increase in 10 years is pretty good going in anyone's book. My request for your share tips was tongue in cheek!

SPRINGS - I'm not questioning Tim's objectives. But ultimately it's execution that counts. And on that front, he's singularly failed to deliver so far, hoodwinking investors with statements that were patently designed to mislead. Whilst that situation may eventually change, so far the share price tells you all you need to know. A minuscule rise (in pence terms) from its recent lows does almost nothing to boost the fortunes of longer term holders. MAIDIT308 - this is not a platform of hate and moan. I am simply saying it as it is. You, on the other hand, are saying it as you'd like it to be.

laallee - I agree with most of your comments, except the "nothing spectacular" part. Personally, I'd call a fivefold+ share price increase over 10 years truly spectacular. If you think it isn't, do tell me what you invested in between 2010 & 2020 that managed to beat that. And give all of us your tips for the next 10 years, so we can retire early to some tropical island!

maidit308 - I'm not a troll & I remain invested here - though I often ask myself why. I don't give a monkeys whether you believe me or not. Fact remains, the future price direction of IMM is total speculation. You may think it's heading north and you could be right. But you don't know. What we CAN be factual about is Tim's track record. And it's patchy to say the least. Whatever the opposite of a Midas touch is, he has it in spades. Remember Alizyme? Long since gone to the wall.

How can you possibly support Tim when he has a long track record of commercial failure & has clearly misled investors?

DorsetLSE - Methinks you fret too much about a company that makes up only 1.1% of SMT's total value. Zipline may prove to be more style than substance. Who knows? And in the grand scheme of things, does it really matter that much? Your posts always seem to be full of concern & doubt about SMT. I believe you said you'd reduced your stake here, which makes perfect sense if you've concerns about the fund. But I'm puzzled as to why you remain invested in SMT at all, given your seemingly endless worrying about it.

Hardboy - you're probably doing the right thing, given that I've just bought back in! My limit buy went through at 10.44am today - 2225 shares at £4.485 each. Happy with that though. It just reinstates the value of the fractional holding I sold for £5.03 a share on 1 Dec 22. And it'll boost my final dividend payment in May. Given H&T's store expansion & the economic backdrop, I reckon it still has at least 1 years' decent growth left. But I'll be monitoring carefully, with a view to reducing again, if the share price nudges above the £5.50 level later this year.

Hardboy - our buy target was almost hit today. Always tomorrow!

The announcement of a new Chair may also have contributed to today's slight price drop. Only it's not really a drop, it's just a correction of yesterday's anomalous rise.

Laughton - The TU matched consensus forecast. Full year results are also expected to be in line. Whilst good, this was kinda known already, so priced in. I imagine yesterday's price hike was down to some expecting the update to EXCEED expectations. Which unfortunately they didn't. So we're basically back to trading in the range we've been at for the last few months.

gotrader -I’m sure you’d be the first to acknowledge that your heading (shorts at 0%) is misleading. There may not be any shorters holding >0.5%, but that’s not the same thing. After all, 10 shorters each with 0.49% would theoretically be more concerning than 5 shorters with 0.5%. Yet the former would just sneak under the radar of most tracker sites, the latter would not.

Walp - we're clearly on the same page. And yes, selling with the herd rarely works, as by that stage it's too late. The trick is to sell when everyone - including your local friendly taxi driver - has been buying (& tipping) an investment for some time. This usually leads to a price bubble, which eventually has to burst. I did a bit of this with SMT when it went above £16 and again after it had fallen back to just over £14. With hindsight, I'd have done far more. But it's always hard to sell when the price trend is seemingly ever upwards. And in my case, selling more would have meant paying CGT, as part of my holding is outside the ISA. I'm fairly relaxed though, as I suspect this fund has a decent future. And even if the Tech sector languishes for some time, SMT has more exposure to Consumer Cyclicals & Healthcare than Tech - though arguably there's an overlap with some of its holdings: https://markets.ft.com/data/investment-trust/tearsheet/holdings?s=SMT:LSE
